APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Sunday March 7, 2004 (MJD 53072) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Day: Pete Newman ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Pre-shakedown tasks. ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- A few of the 2.5m and PT pre-shake-down tasks completed. We have no position measurements from M2 in TPM. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- A few pre-shake-down tests and tasks were conducted today: - Mirror positions are not valid. We have no values from the M2 Galils in the TPM display (all values are zero). However, the TCC mirror status command returned apparently sensible values. I do not know which to believe (TPM not getting current values? TCC returning old values?) so I will check with the engineers tomorrow (Monday). In addition, the M1 lateral MIG values are well out of tolerance, although the Galils are at their commanded positions. Mt may just need relaxing. - IOP version v3_129_0 declared current after successful test during the last shake-up. - DA tapes drives cleaned. - Spectrograph and imagers checked for life with biases. However, cartridge 3 on the telescope seems to be unplugged. endNight was NOT run, so these data will be discarded. - PT flat-field lamp changed, and operations are being tested (JCB is using the PT for bright-time science tonight). We had to reboot the PT (MT) crate following a power-down of sdssmth to change a dead tape drive. - We have a new(?) persistent TPM error that I believe relates to one of the temperature sensors: tmicro (Disconnected Sensor in M0B4:: 2004-03-08 02:41:30Z) but this can be masked in watcher. - Steve Bastien continued testing 180L LN2 dewar pressure on the imager this afternoon, so there may have been more than the usual number of pressure excursions. However, at close of play, pressures seem good (see Telescope section below for details). - A note to observers: I made some card "tape tags" that insert over the FNAL barcodes on the DLT tapes to keep track of which tape goes in each drive, now that we are not allowed to write on the barcoded labels. When tapes are shipped or returned to the storage cupboard, just pull the tag out of the label slot and insert it into the replacement tape. There's a box to store unsed tags beside the photo1 DA crate. This initial set are rather flimsy, but if the idea proves successful, I will make some sturdier replacements. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4488 02:51Z 02:56Z 100 O -81.79 -80.49 23 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): QA Procedures Done (y/n): UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 25425, plate -9999 ------- 02:52 25425 0.0 bias 03:20 25426 2.0 flat ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JL Stays: JL ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 00:24Z 40 21 1 265 (W) -9999 - Overcast 00:57Z 38 20 0 248 (WSW) -9999 - " 01:33Z 38 21 3 29 (NNE) -9999 - " 02:05Z 38 21 5 346 (NNW) -9999 - " 02:41Z 39 14 1 342 (NNW) -9999 - " 03:13Z 43 5 4 249 (WSW) -9999 - " ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- Enclosure not opened and telescope not moved.
