APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Friday July 1, 2005 (MJD 53553) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- John Barentine ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Continuation of pre-checkout. Welcome to SDSS II! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- Homed and relaxed M2, completing the list of tasks we started last night. Still cannot get mirror numbers, however. See Log. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- M2 Home/Relax ------------- We were unable to complete homing and relaxing of the mirrors last night due to a communcations problem fixed today by the daystaff. Telescope is again at 121,70 for this test. First iteration gave the position errors for A,B,C as: -000000039, -000000007, -000000555 The value for actuator C was high so I repeated the home/relax. This time I got: 000000049, 000000012, 000000075 The Procedure on sdsshost says to send all the actuators back to nominal zeroes (much like for M1 it says to send actuators to the starting values in PrimDesOrient read at the beginning of a slew to 121,70), though Howard tells me that they are supposed to be set back to "current" values from a recent on-sky night. Last night I sent the M1 actuators back to nominal commanded values from MJD 53536; tonight I am sending the M2 actuators to the commanded values from the same night. A=1619120, B=1604909, C=1528405 We will check collimation, if possible, on Sunday night. Attempting to get mirror numbers through logTool still doesn't work. Clicking "Mirrors" returns with nothing except an error message in the iop session from which logTool was started: Timed out waiting for the TCC to respond We are missing: SecCmdMount SecActMount SecOrient SecFocus ScaleFac This is identical to the message we were getting last night. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): QA Procedures Done (y/n): UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JL Stays: JL ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 02:13Z 71 23 9 271 (W) 626 - 02:46Z 71 23 9 268 (W) 620 - 03:18Z 70 23 10 266 (W) 662 - 03:53Z 70 23 10 261 (W) 696 - ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- Telescope parked at 121,30 with Cart 1 (Plate 1703) mounted Counterwights at 250 Spectro autofill reconnected No interlocks bypassed Dewar weights at 03:35Z Imager: 278lbs 19psi Spectro: 137lbs 19psi ---=== SOFTWARE USED ===--- IOP/SOP: v3_149_0 Watcher: v2_30_0 MCP: v5_26_0 TPM: tpm_v2_47_0 AstroDa: v14_47 TCC: TCC 2.7.2.1 August 6 2004 sdssProcedures: v2_02 SoS: hoggPT: plate-mapper: ---=== MIRROR NUMBERS ===--- ---=== PROBLEMS IN DETAIL ===---
