APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Thursday October 6, 2005 (MJD 53650) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Swing: John Barentine Night: Dan Long Kaike Pan Support: Eric Neilsen ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- A very damp night (by the end of the night you could hear water dripping off the enclosure). It started out foggy, eventually cleared off, but never dried out. We never opened. We can (and should) stop running cleanupMurmur with the -noLink option. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon --------- Today I started all my *OP sessions logged in as observer@sdsshost2 w.r.t. last nightLog's comment regarding logTool not getting certain information (and whether that was perhaps related to my own account on sdsshost2 not being configured correctly). This doesn't seem to explain it; ~3 hours of weather are missing as I release the log at 00:00Z, and the doghouse bias (Run 5703) taken earlier in the afternoon never appeared in the Imaging Summary on its own. For disk space, we start the day with 21% free space (23GB) on sdsshost2:/home and 52% free space (725GB) on sdssfiles1:/data1/data. No significant issues during checkout. Night ----- Eric called early in the evening and we discussed the recent dropouts in logTool. The start of the dropout seems coincident with the start of the day's murmur log. If logTool is started prior to running cleanup murmur, it may not automatically reconnect. Typing a command (even just hitting carriage return) in the iop which launched logTool should reconnect it to the murmur server. If that doesn't work, stopping and relaunching logTool certainly will. Something else that came up while talking with Eric; we should stop using the -noLink option when running cleanupMurmur. The NFS fix obviates the need, and using noLink means that the portion of the murmur log between running endNight and cleanupMurmur the following day, never gets archived. endNight ran successfully and swiftly, not having much to chew on. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5703 21:39Z 22:12Z 100 O 49.74 57.93 48 ignore (had to add this by hand -- never appeared on its own) ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n):y QA Procedures Done (y/n):n UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 34147, plate -9999 ------- 20:51Z 34147 0.0 bias {{}} 20:56Z 34148 0.0 bias {{}} ----- sequence 34149, plate 2258 ------- 23:13Z 34149 10.0 flat post-flat 23:15Z 34150 2.0 arc post-arc 23:20Z 34151 2.1 arc {{focus, hartmann l}} 23:22Z 34152 2.1 arc {{focus, hartmann r}} 23:48Z 34153 2.1 arc {{focus, hartmann l}} 23:50Z 34154 2.1 arc {{focus, hartmann r}} ----- sequence 34155, plate -9999 ------- 00:24 34155 0.0 bias 02:45 34156 0.0 bias ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JL Stays: JL ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 19:20Z 47 48 5 185 (S) -9999 - Fog 19:53Z 45 47 4 212 (SSW) -9999 - Fog 20:25Z 45 47 2 198 (SSW) -9999 - Fog 23:29Z 46 47 0 244 (WSW) -9999 - Mostly Cloudy 00:02Z 45 46 0 127 (SE) -9999 - Fog 00:34Z 45 46 0 244 (WSW) -9999 - Fog 01:06Z 44 46 4 16 (NNE) -9999 - Fog 01:38Z 44 45 1 77 (ENE) -9999 - Fog 02:11Z 43 45 7 107 (ESE) -9999 - Fog 02:43Z 44 45 8 87 (E) -9999 - Fog 03:15Z 44 43 8 33 (NNE) -9999 - Mostly Cloudy 03:47Z 45 42 3 212 (SSW) -9999 - Mostly Clear 04:19Z 44 43 9 138 (SE) -9999 - Mostly Clear 04:51Z 45 43 7 138 (SE) -9999 - Partly Cloudy 05:24Z 45 43 0 245 (WSW) -9999 - Partly Cloudy 05:56Z 45 43 0 187 (S) -9999 - Partly Cloudy 06:28Z 46 42 0 237 (WSW) -9999 - Partly Cloudy 07:00Z 45 42 1 200 (SSW) -9999 - Mostly Clear 07:32Z 46 42 2 186 (S) -9999 - Mostly Clear 08:04Z 45 42 1 107 (ESE) -9999 - Mostly Clear 08:37Z 46 41 2 193 (SSW) -9999 - Clear 09:09Z 46 41 2 188 (S) -9999 - Clear 09:41Z 45 41 5 175 (S) -9999 - Clear 10:13Z 44 42 2 186 (S) -9999 - Clear 10:45Z 43 42 4 183 (S) -9999 - Fog ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- Enclosure never opened.
