Imaging 84 N from lambda 130 to -166 (including ramps), run # 7824. Finished SEGUE plate, 3153, added signal on plates: 3156 and 3160. Problems: 1) ion-pump pressure was up and down between 1.0 to 2,0 microtorr, down to 0.7 at 05:00Z, and stayed there for the rest of night. 2) During the first attemp, ad1 chip deaded at frame 59. 3) For unknown reason, SoS return bad sky levels for exposures on plate 3160 (see log). ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: --------- The Lindy cart plate nearest the handle was off its pins and shifted forward. Curious. Bob said no one had worked on the cart during the day that he knew of. He pushed the plate back in place. No other problems noted. Spectro focus was not changed. Removed MJD 54755, 54756 data from disk. Night: ----- 23:55Z mounted imager. 00:15Z on-telescope bias with T-bar unlatched. Run 7818. 00:53Z ScanStripe 84 N 122 00:55Z 84 N, run 7819. In focus in frame 16. In frame 27, lambda 125, make a correction for nu error of 19". Skippy was happy from fram 31, lambda 126.0. 01:10Z we had Alt error too large to correct, and we still have time, and decided to stop the drift and start it over. 01:11Z endDrift and call the run unknown. 01:14Z ScanStripe 84 N 122, labmda 128. 01:16Z godrift -quick. 01:17Z run 1820, 84 N. Focus was good from the beginning. Skippy was happy from the beginning. 01:23Z started ramp at frame 20, lambda 130. 01:31Z started science at frame 32, lambda 132. Seeing was about 1.1". At 01:37Z, cloud camera images showed that the sky was not photometric. We think that this is false, the large deviations was due to mal-behavior of the cloud camers (the known noise bar), not clouds. At frame 59, ad 4 dead. So we had to stop and rebooted all crates. 02:00Z ScanStripe 84 N 122, labmda 129. 02:01Z godrift -quick. watcher complained about checksum doesn't match on all id chips, here is one error message: dsc W chksumMismatch Checksum mismatch (expected 2011503996 vs. computed 2092831658) We powered all chips down and left them for 1 min before power on. 02:10Z ScanStripe 84 N 122, labmda 129. 02:12Z godrift -quick. We still had the problem. Jon found that DA stoped with endDrift but camnag showed: driftscanning, imager did not stop with endDrift. im> cc stopscan stoped the camera, and rebooted all crates again. 02:30Z ScanStripe 84 N 122, labmda 128. 02:31Z goDrift -quick, we still have watcher error about checksum mismatch. We also had a problem with camera micro: phase micro (unacknowleged). 02:37Z ScanStripe 84 N 122, labmda 128 02:38Z goDrift, run 7824, 84 N. 02:46Z started the ramp at fm=19, lambda 130. Started science at fm 32, lambda 132. 03:05Z watcher complained about ion-pump pressure. It was at 0.61. But imstat says it was 1.71 microtorr, and keeping up and down between 1.13 to 2.0 microtorr. It looked like that the checksum error and imager did not stopped drifting were due to goDrift was used when goDrift should be used after rebooted crates. 05:45Z ion-pump pressure was down to 0.8. Started from frame 360, seeing became worse than 1.6 but still better than 1.9. At frame 400, seeing improved to 1.6 again. 06:54Z ended Science at lambda -168, frame 433. 07:02Z ended ramp at lambda -166, frame 447. 07:02Z endDrift 07:05Z switched to spectro, dismounted imager, mounted cartridge 1. 07:18Z Cartridge 1, plate 3156 (SEGUE II). 07:23Z precalib. We obtained two 30-min exposures. During the 2nd exposure, seeing improved to 1.1". 08:45Z cart 7, plate 3153 (SEGUE II). FK5 used for the field. 10:36Z mid-calib. We obtained 4 exposures on this plate.
