We watched the LCROSS impact...no plume? :( ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: --------- 23:30Z restarted servers 00:00Z started ventilations 00:20Z ThAr is on (MARVELS) telescope laptop did not connected on 25. We can not run the iop section. so we checked fiducials from the control room. Approx. at 0:50Z Viktor tried again, and now has not problem. Night: ------ We had some delay with opening because nearby radar return. It is better now and we desided to open. 02:03Z sp1 -99.6 C; sp2 -101.2C 01:15Z enclosure off Filled spectro, it tooks 30 min. bias sdR-r2-00102246.fit Cart 12, plate 3537 is mounted. Find stars on gotoField, out of focus. We ran sop_hartman and moveCool several times. It took us one hour and the boss time was over. Motors did not move to right final position and we applied an additional move to move to right position. 02:14 sop hartmann ff= 102247-49 David Shlegel suggested us to run collimate differently: ssh -Y observer@hub25m setup idlspec2d idl collimate, 02:32 sop hartmann ff= 102250-52 02:47 sop hartmann ff= 102250 After observations of regular arc, we got error message and sequence of hartmann exposures was stopped. 02:56 sop hartmann ff= 102254-56 03:10:45 57 sop hartmann ff=102257-59 Alaina made several hartmann exposures to adjust the collimation. I compared the results with our previous program, the results are very different. It is easy re-calulate if necessary. Collimation is ok now. 03:22Z sop doCalibs, flat=102260, arc=102260 Boss time is over and we changed to Marvels. Guider updated one exposure and stopped. It did not show SM window. Guider stopped to work, checked and guiderActors was dead, we restart guider using stage manager. Guider startes to update ds9 window but did not start SM window again. 03:50Z Cart 6, side A, plate 3518, KEPLER 4; GSonGTF; MARVELS T03:56:41.590 - calibration trio Made guider flat. We applied offsets to center the stars but they still are at the edge of fibers. We see stars in all odd fibers. Guder did not start to to guied as guider did not recognized stars on fibers even we see them using ds9. Called to Steph. After some checking, she recommended to check if this plate has been observed already. This plate was not observed before. We did "restart" guider, but guider did one exposures and stopped. Stephanie suggested to restart guider Actor using stageManager. We did that but it still did not work. 4:55Z gotoField to the same cartridge 6, plate field B, K5; GSonGTF We found one start on gotoField. Guider SM window did not appear, and guider error is the same. Stepanie suggested to restart gcamera dnd guider using stageManager. 05:06Z restart actor gcam . That is did not help. We called Paul Harding. 06:02Z Cart. 9 plate 3513 B Field 1572; GSonGTF; MARVELS We resolved the guider problem. The description in to 'problem' section. The time was expired. So that spectrographs can be correctly focused. Guider problems: We could not get the guider to work, it did not recognize any stars. After several tries and phone calls to Steph, we got Paul and Craig involved in the troubleshooting. We discovered that the problem was with the guider flats - the petals had been left open on accident, and the program did not recognize/warn about the error. Once this was figured out and noted, the guider ran beautifully. Warnings for "too few counts in gflat" will be added to software. Paul requested that if we come upon any problems, like improper fibers being disabled or guider vector window not opening, that we call him sooner. He also requests that the guider be started once during the afternoon to be sure that there are no problems. We also need to do a 20 sec guider dark as part of the checkout.
