APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Sunday April 18, 2010 (MJD 55305) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Alaina Shelden Kaike Pan ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Hopefully BOSS Science ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- The night was lost to weather: rain, clouds, high humidity. Did following cloudy night tasks. Finished sparse plugging test on cartridge 15. Finished dithered flat test on cartridge 16. Compressed mcptpm data on sdsshost2 for 50 nights. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- Afternoon checkout went smoothly. No problem to report. Collimations were checked with cartridge 14. The collimation script suggested that B2 focus ring needs 6.7 degree movements when R2 was in focus. We did not moved the ring because the focus ring was at the right position with other catridges two nights ago. So we would like to check with another cartridge before we move it. Mounted cartridge 15 for sparse plugging test. 01:00Z it started to rain. Power glitch at 01:09, utility power went down for1 second, then came back right way. No evening ventilation because of bad weather. Night: ------ 02:50Z weather is not bad, we decided to do the sparse plugging test. frame 113667-68 hartmann moved B2 focus ring by 6 degree # 113669-70 hartmann: collimate script thraw error message. ERROR FOUND!! THERE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE ANY LIGHT FROM THE ARCS IN THIS CAMERA!!! #113671-72: hartmann. asked for -5.5 degree on B2. This means we moved it back! #113673-74: Hartmann. Exposures were taken after 2 min warning up. The same results from collimation script. So we move B2 focus ring back to where it was: -6 degree back to 338 degree on its mark. #113675-76: hartmann. Asked for 4.2 degree movementment on B2. We moved 3 degree. #113677-78: hartmann: Asked for -2.0 degree movement on B2. #113679-82: 5 sec flats #113683-86: 10 sec flats #113687-90: 20 sec flats #113691-94: 40 sec flats #113695-98: 80 sec flats #113699-113702: 2 sec arc #113703-06: 4 sec arc #113707-10: 8 sec arc #113711-14: 15 sec arc #113715-18: 30 sec arc 05:40Z mount cartridge 16 for dithered flats 113722-23: the first set of hartmann Moved pistons as requested. 113724-25: hartmann 113726-47: dithered flats 113748-49: hartmann 08:10Z sky cleared up, but humidity is still high, at 76%, and dust at 2K.
