APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Monday December 27, 2010 (MJD 55558) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Dmitry Bizyaev Howard Brewington Steph Snedden (afternoon) Support: Jon Brinkmann Fritz Stauffer ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- The night was lost to clouds, humidity, and a few snow flakes. The Stui status window shows Cart 18 as engCam; see afternoon checkout. We are still having rot oscillations; see log. Completed the MARVELS cals. Homed and relaxed the mirrors. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: --------- Fritz and Jon were busy improving network security when I came in. Checkout at the telescope was without problems once a new STUI and MCPMenu were started. 00:04Z - Started ventilation, but doors closed. Mounted cartridge 18. Note that loadCart works fine, and theID switches are read. SOP Status shows the correct cartridge and plate combo, but the main STUI status window shows that the mounted cartridge is "Eng Cam" Tried to take mirror numbers, but it failed with RHL can't read "weatherData(airTemp)": no such element in array Time airTemp dewPt Press TmpOut HumOut Windd Winds Error: can't read "weatherData(dewPoint)": no such element in array Sure enough, the 3.5m weather data were offline. Once Jon got the weather communication back online, the mirror numbers were fine, and not very different from previous days' values. BOSS Hartmanns, bias, dark flat and arc taken. Collimation was in spec. Skies were overcast at sunset. Opening was delayed. Night: ----- 03:00Z Closed doors/louvers and turned off fans as humidity increased. 07:00Z Completed the MARVELS cals 07:05Z We had a rot oscillation, which lasted about ten seconds, after doing an axis init. The scope was at 121,30,00 mount. Dmitry said that these events have happened a few times over the previous three nights as well. 09:06Z Completed the mirror home and relax; the mirror numbers look good. 11:41Z endNight finished ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): QA Procedures Done (y/n): UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 00:37Z 29 22 0 341 (NNW) 313 - 09:04Z 29 21 5 259 (W) 601 - ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 00:04Z Doors and louvers opened, fans on. 03:00Z Doors and louvers closed, fans off.
