A third (south area) strip was imaged in highly variable seeing. Spectroscopy: Plate 519 declared done. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- An advance warning for tomorrow night: The weather forecast for the southern Sacramento Mountains indicates that we may have trouble with the sky levels in astroline. .WEDNESDAY NIGHT...MOSTLY SUNNY. LOWS 25 TO 35. ------- The skies were mostly clear at sunset so we set up for imaging. The wind direction did not promise great seeing, but we hoped for acceptable seeing. 02:12 UT - After applying an az, alt & rot offset based on skippy, we were doing science imaging on 82 N. Seeing was variable & parts of the stripe are out of spec. 04:32 UT - Imaging on strip 33 N in good seeing. This strip is done. 07:50 UT - Imaging on strip 31 N in good seeing until the moon rose. At one point we had all but 3 CCDs showing subarcsecond images. We had a spontaneous halt of the axes just as the Moon was about to rise. We took that as our cue to move on to spectroscopy. 11:00 UT - Plate 519. Conditions went from clear to partly cloudy as we started spectroscopy. Good timing. Stars were not found in the guide fibers right away, but an FK5 was found with no trouble. This plate was declared done in three exposures. Actuator A on M2 behaved itself all night, but temperatures were above freezing, so nothing is proven yet.
