Connie, we finally finished one Connie-plate!!!!! weeeee!!!!!! Cartridge 4 Plate 1128 ------------------------ Stars on gotoField. We took one science and then smear before swapping to cart 1 since cart 1 has higher priority for now. Cartridge 1 PLate 1179 ------------------------- fk5 required to acquire the field. When we were setting up, we originaly loaded the wrong cartridge and gotoField. We then reloaded with the correct info and then did gotoField, but without gflat which we did not notice immidiately. It was only after trying to center the guide stars that we noticed we forgot the gflat. OOPS. We took gflat and proceeded. Central pointing ------------------ We first did the central pointing. The pointing was suppose to be 3" off from the central pointing in RA. We had to move 3.4" in offsetADR command to get offset error 3" in the guider GUI window for some reason. (The error was 0" before we offset the telescope.) After couple minutes, the error was about 2.7" so we did another offsetADR to have the guider to have 3.0" error. Figuring out which way to offset can be confusing. It is so easy to go the wrong way. Good thing this plate is observable during the first half when we are not as tired and not the second half. Pointing #2 --------------- We took the third 20 min exposure. Combined with the exposures from last night, we finished off this pointing. Pointing #3 -------------- Only one exposure on this pointing. We took postCalib --- good bet because the last science exposure asked for it. NOTE: No entry in the database is made for these plate because S/N is not the issue for finishing the plate. So observers will have to look up the night logs to know how many exposures on what pointing has completed so far. Cartridge 2 Plate 1062 ------------------------- fk5 required to find the field. We finished in three exposures. Cartridge 9 Plate 931 ------------------------ fk5 required to find the field. We finished in three exposures. We switched to imaging after this plate -- the seeing has been good and we have not seen any clouds for most of the time we were observing this plate. After taking a bias on the scope, we went to 29N. If we started at lambda -25 immidiately, the altitude would have been below 45. Run 3424 ---------- On the scope bias run. Run 3525 --------- Stripe 14 startLmabda -25 There was a message in Watcher TCC category 'Text="new position rejected":AxisNoSlew:"TTT" (2002-12-11 09:55:46Z)'. Frame 24 We cleared the offsets from spectro. The seeing was not good at the beginning. Skippy was successfully ran for once at the beginning of the run. We could not confirm via skippy if the pointing was good. So we decided to do another scanStripe to get back to lambda -25. Could the above TCC error something to do with the fact that we could not get skippy to work? The pointing was actually not good? Frame 53 scanStripe again --- we are reaching to where we want to start in lambda but without getting skippy to run. Maybe this will fix our problem? We are getting many sky errors, mainly in ccd 22, 45. Frame 55 lambda about -22. Finally skippy ran successfully. The seeing has been good from frame 39 lambda-24.6. Maybe the pointing was not so great after all and needed another gotoField. Frame 189-275 (lambda -2.1 to -10.8) got marginal seeing according to SoKent. Last frame 281 lambda 11.7. The seeing for this whole run was either good or marginal. nuErr was -6.7" at the beginning of the run and the end of the run. It looked as if the nuErr did not change much through the run. endNight is running.
