PTVME and/or DA problems near the end of the night. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Swing shift notes ----------------- We had a bad tape in id1-1 during the preflight bias run of the imager. We followed the Archiver Troubleshooting procedure (well, sort of - that document is a mess to follow) and after replacing the tape, did a poolInit and tapeRelabel and all was well (as that was a test bias run, the poolInit didn't throw away anything useful). Night ----- It was clear all night tonight. We set up on 26 S in twilight and imaged this strip all night in one 840 frame run. It was a very peaceful and productive night until about an hour and a half before morning twilight. In the last hour-and-a-half of the night there were problems with the servers dying and not restarting and iop sessions crashing and taking nearly an hour to come back up. Despite the lack of watcher info we hobbled along, not wanting to risk the run as data were still being taken and the focus loop was running and the seeing was excellent. When the run was ended we took half an hour to recover from the communications problems and the backlog of archiving it left. See the problem section for details. Tried start_servers -K and then none of them would come back. It was also not possible to get a new iop going. In just the same spot that the servers stopped in coming up Executing commands in /p/iop/v3_113_1/etc/iopStartup.tcl: As the focus loop was still running and the seeing still looked excellent on the monitors we just kept going with the run the servers finally came back up after trying for about an hour. ended the drift at astronomical twilight at frame 840,a lambda of about 70. The photo 1 drives had built up a queue depth of between 15 and 30 frames over the course of the run. Came back from putting the telescope away to find the iop session had crashed. See the problem section for error messages and ptvmeTest results. Issued ptvmeReset which cleared the ptvme error. However, IOP still won't come up in any reasonable time. Rebooted crates. IOP came up immediately this time. Ran endNight, found about 40 frames worth of untransferred gangs. After the gangs were transferred, endNight was run again. This time it started archiving. PTVME/DA details: astroda OAC version v14_47 Using HVE link to ICC Error mapping shared data area (memory) mmap failed for /dev/mmem for offset 0xB8000000 (0x00200000 bytes) ******************************************************************************** * * * Backplane communications with the ICC are not possible. * * * * Observers!
