We imaged all night with seeing averaging about 1.1 arcseconds, and often dropping well below an arcsecond. 82 N imaged end to end. 38 N imaged from start to -15. A note from Brian Yanny regarding a plate observed a couple of days ago allowed us to declare 1153 done. So we declared a plate done even though we imaged all night! ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon Checkout: ------------------- Spectrographs ok, but focus not checked (imager is mounted). DAs - ok, Imager - ok. MIGs - ok. Telescope fiducialized. Night: ------ Like the last few nights, the weather and forecast point to starting with imaging. Can we get yet another scan of stripe 82 end to end? Yes we did, and there were no bad or even acceptable patches of seeing; all 780 frames are called good by seeingRun. 09:08Z Rotator abort slewing to 38 N from 82 N. No obvious cause. An axis init and reslew was done after a visual check. rotator (MGT: bad rot state ABORT_EVENT: ID_ERROR_LIMIT (2003-10-24 09:08:11Z sdssmcp): 2003-10-24 09:08:58Z ) Despite the abort, we got setup quickly and 4208 on 38 N was good from the start. Seeing still quite good. Near twilight, the seeing got a little less good, but was still well within the good range according to seeingRun. The GN2 bottle pressurizing the 180L imager dewar is getting close to the 500 PSI minimum. It may need swapping today. endNight is happily writing to tape as this log goes out.
