In between the bad weather, we finished one plate. We had an X session die and dealt with DA rimfire failures. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- DA: - Rimfire failure showed after inserting tapes in DAs - photo crates were rebooted, but still id1-1 and id4-1 were bad. We rebooted crates again. Then we saw id1-1, id4-1 were still not happy. We replaced tapes in those drives and everything turned out to be ok...for a while. After the test bias finished, we saw the same rimfire failure on the same nodes again. We checked all connectors on the photo crates, found a few that were slightly loose on both crates, and reset the crates again. After that we ran several more biases, and saw no more rimfire failures. Hopefully, it was just a loose connection. MIGs - ok., spectrographs in spec/focus, no changes were made. imager -ok. Telescope ok. night: ------ Just like last night, threatening weather kept us inside the enclosure at sunset, although the doors were open and fans on at first. After the humidity rose, we closed the doors and turned off the fans. 03:23Z: Howard's X session crashed. Craig was called and he restarted the X server and the xdm daemon (or was that fxdm? ;->). 03:55Z: Humidity dropped enough for us to go on-sky with cartridge 5, plate 1573. Guide stars on goToField. We finished this plate with a total exposure of 3300s, then closed because of rising humidity. 08:17Z: The dewpoint was 11 C. Felt like a sauna, well, a New Mexico sauna anyway. 10:00Z: The clouds started to dissipate and the humidity dropped so we opened back up with cartridge 9, plate 1144. Guide stars on goToField. Bad seeing, Moon and low altitude kept us from getting useful signal, however.
