APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Monday April 25, 2005 (MJD 53486) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Atsuko Nitta The ET Team: Jian Ge (UF) Julian Van Eyken (UF) Support: Dan Long (afternoon) Hercules ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- ET Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- Delayed opening due to clouds and snow. Opened to get data on 2 plates at the very end of the night. Cart 8 fiber 11 did not show any flux despite of the cleaning and reseating during the day. Broken? I had great fun working with Jian and Julian. Hope their data are all they hoped for and more. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Dan was working getting ready for the next dark run when I got up today. I used clearnupMurmur instead of rebooting host today. JB was looking at the spechMech code so I thought I will just clean up Murmur rather than reboot. We had snow!! in the afternoon. That will keep the moths away from mass attack on us for a short while. Collimation check was performed at: 4.7C Air 7-8C sp1 5-6C sp2 Given the temperature now and the forecast saying it will be colder, I decided to adjust the collimation to anticipate for cooler night temp. sp1 ----- Coll_motor_A 0 Coll_motor_B 0 Coll_motor_C 0 sp1> mechPiston -3453 Coll_motor_A -3454 Coll_motor_B -3454 Coll_motor_C -3453 sp2 ------- Coll_motor_A 5 Coll_motor_B -4 Coll_motor_C 0 sp2> mechPiston -5261 Coll_motor_A -5261 Coll_motor_B -5262 Coll_motor_C -5261 Night: ------------------ 04:00Z We open doors and put cart5 on, in case we can open. 04:40Z It started to snow, so the doors are closed. 09:30Z Open!! Cart 8 Plate 8013 ------------------- Found gStars with last night's offset. The clouds were still around and sometimes I could not see the guide stars even with 60s exp. time. ET team reports that they still did not get any flux in the fiber11 Jean cleaned and reseated yesterday. It is possible that it is broken? I forgot to press the offset button in logTool before I went to the next field. Cart 4 Plate 8014 ------------------- 10:45Z Off to the field. Just as we centered, the clouds move in. I had to fk5 to find the field. 12:00Z We are done. endNight ran happily to the end. The ET team is still taking calibration data as I type this. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): QA Procedures Done (y/n): UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 32241, plate 8015 ------- 00:22 32241 10.0 flat 00:24 32242 2.0 arc 00:27 32243 0.0 arc 00:30 32244 0.0 arc 01:04 32245 0.0 arc 01:07 32246 0.0 arc ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 10:56Z 4 8014 194.07 0.0039 53.11 0.0042 31.84 0.0000 1.000160 ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JL Stays: JL ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 10:30Z 8 8013 1.00026 -2566 -394 500 -61 36.0 1.6 2 320 gdr 1.5 11:00Z 4 8014 1.00012 -1185 691 500 195 52.9 1.7 1 272 gdr 1.7 ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 23:16Z 41 22 9 306 (NW) 592 - 23:49Z 41 22 7 332 (NNW) 622 - 00:21Z 40 20 15 321 (NW) 514 - 00:53Z 40 21 11 278 (W) 579 - 01:25Z 39 22 6 293 (WNW) 577 - 01:57Z 38 23 7 271 (W) 568 - 02:30Z 36 25 7 306 (NW) 775 - 03:02Z 37 24 6 334 (NNW) 866 - 03:35Z 36 24 7 330 (NNW) 706 - 04:05Z 36 25 4 291 (WNW) 577 - 04:37Z 36 25 5 346 (NNW) 465 - 05:09Z 36 25 8 281 (W) 493 - 05:41Z 36 24 3 330 (NNW) 430 - 06:13Z 36 26 5 341 (NNW) 435 - 06:45Z 35 26 1 23 (NNE) 423 - 07:17Z 35 27 7 357 (NNW) 411 - 07:50Z 34 26 1 1 (N) 427 - 08:22Z 35 26 4 301 (WNW) 413 - 08:54Z 35 26 6 285 (WNW) 429 - 09:26Z 35 26 4 289 (WNW) 425 - 09:56Z 35 26 2 313 (NW) 426 - 10:29Z 34 26 2 313 (NW) 396 - 10:59Z 35 26 1 271 (W) 425 - 11:31Z 34 26 1 243 (WSW) 402 - 12:03Z 33 26 2 266 (W) 397 - 12:35Z 31 27 5 191 (S) 412 - 13:08Z 34 27 2 191 (S) 420 - ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 04:00Z Open doors. 04:40Z Snow.
