Telescope collimation checked on sky with the imager. PROBLEMS: Dimm: ------ is not powering up - it needs to be checked during the day (we checked the power fuse at the bottom enclosure and it looked fine). PR filled. Spectrograph problem: -------------------- sp2 actuator C was commanded to move to position ~1000 but instead it moved to ~4000, while A,B actuators went to ~1000. No error mesage was shown when it happened. Landru: ------- Landru got frozen and had to be reset. We did not checked if we can shut it down cleanly. The color map did not come back properly after that (the background on sao display was noisy). ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon checkout done. Test flat field and arc exposure taken around the sun set. All seems to be fine according sos. Night: ------ 02:20Z cart 2 plt 2147 mounted. Still in twilight, but found fk5 star right away. Calibrations taken with the new plate showed in yellow. We are not sure if the situation will improve, because two consecutive calibration showed more numbers in yellow then the test exposure at afternoon checkout. We decided to goSpecFocus. To collimate sp2 we issued a command mechpistion 4000. B & A went were they suppose to go (~1000), but C went to 4000!!!. Half hour of sicience time lost due to the problem. BTW, spectrographs were setup yesterday for the temperature 3 C, and we were in spec with the temperature tonight (5. C) when the numbers in calibration exposures turned in yellow. Postcalib required and taken. plate done. SOS warnings: bad sky residual, big wavelength gap, scattered light. 04:48Z cart 5 plt 1824 mounted. SOGTF (all of them! - nice). Big discrepancy between b and r chips in s/n (20 and 14)! So we called that plate done with s/n in r1,r2: 14.1 and 14.7. Sos warnings: Max sky-residual. 06:00Z cart 3 plt 2097, SOGTF. plate done. 07:23Z cart 4 plt 1841, SOGTF. Landru got frozen on Steph, while doing precalib. The arc was read out properly, but we hat to reset landru. Jurek took over on coopilot computer (he did guider flat to get fibers centered, run guider and started the exposure - scale was still good, and precalibs taken by Steph were good as well), while Steph was settig up her sessions from the beginning. 10 minutes of science were lost. When she restored her iop sessions on landru, the color map was messed up (we did not see the efficiency meter on the startMon display properly). Steph closed up her sessions again (this time cleanly) and started from scratch. That did not help. Meanwhile Jurek noticed, that he did not grab instruments while trying to get on the sky (yes, goStare complained), and we lost another 12 minutes due to that :(. Plate done if we take into account s/n from the previous nights. Steph is back on sky. 08:52Z cart 8 plt 1829. SOGTF, however the guider was fighting to get all stars in the fibers (it did not figure out that bigger rotator correction could make missing half of the stars to appear in the holes faster :) ). First exposure lost due to the clouds & the Moon ( efficiency meter showed 45%). Clouds got thicker and we lost the second even longer exposure. No signal on that plate was collected. 10:00Z We decided to check the collimation with the imager on the telescope to use the remaining night time. We went for the segue stripe: run 5298, stripe 1062 S started at mu 280.
