APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Thursday March 9, 2006 (MJD 53804) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Steph Snedden Jian Ge and the ET team Support: French Leger (doing everything) Jim Gunn (imager) Visitors: Jurek Krzesinski Mike Harvanek ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- ET setup and testing ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- Clouds. ET setup is nearing completion. Imager is still being pumped down. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- No swing shift during ET time. Jim is busy carefully warming and pumping on the camera. It is still in the enclosure. Jian, his crew, and French continued the optical setup of ET. By evening, the fibers had been run to the enclosure and up the cone to the telescope level. We have one ET cartridge plugged and ready to be mounted. Plate 8019 has been mounted to cartridge 1, and the plugMap file changed accordingly (the original order mentioned in last night's log is already broken). We should have at least two more cartridges ready by tomorrow afternoon, to cover the entire night. 07:40Z It looks like the clouds will persist through most or all of the night. Furthermore, the one cartridge we have plugged has expired, and Jim could use some extra time pumping on the imager vacuum in the enclosure. Therefore, we had a discussion and decided to call the night early. The ET crew will continue to test signal strength from the enclosure during the remaining hours, and fine-tune the optical alignment. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n):n QA Procedures Done (y/n):n UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 37997, plate -9999 ------- 02:06 37997 0.0 bias ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 01:28Z 31 2 26 270 (W) 1250 - cloudy 02:00Z 31 3 23 271 (W) 1144 - ' 02:32Z 31 3 22 267 (W) 1227 - ' 03:04Z 30 4 16 270 (W) 1242 - ' 03:36Z 30 4 19 261 (W) 1176 - ' 04:08Z 30 4 14 274 (W) 1212 - ' 04:40Z 30 5 16 247 (WSW) 1092 - ' 05:12Z 30 5 16 246 (WSW) 1078 - ' 05:45Z 30 5 17 243 (WSW) 1177 - ' 06:17Z 30 5 19 236 (SW) 1144 - ' 06:49Z 30 5 20 245 (WSW) 1253 - ' 07:21Z 30 5 18 260 (W) 1358 - ' ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 07:34Z - Stowed at az=153, alt=90 with the imager being pumped at the telescope.
