APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Monday April 3, 2006 (MJD 53829) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Swing: John Barentine Night: Olena Malanushenko Steph Snedden guests: Jian Ge & ET crew (cheering UF's win over UCLA) Suzanne Hawley (UW), students & guests ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- Clouds, then dust. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon --------- No problems today. Spectrograph focus is set for +5.5 deg C. Numbers are in the Problems section. The DIMM's inline fuse was replaced (2A, 250V fast blow), and the Meade telescope's health was checked. All checked out okay. Kaike said no cables were caught between the Meade and tub last night (which could cause an overcurrent). At this point, we don't know why we had a blown fuse, but there appears to have been no harm done. Night ----- Opaque clouds moving through at sunset delayed opening. In fact, they delayed opening until about 10:00Z, when they started to thin. However, at that point the dust had risen above the limit. endNight finished with one problem. There were some missing gangs from the afternoon's long bias, but since it was a doghouse bias, we told endNight to continue anyway. We did restart the teamster, so most of the gangs made it to disk before endNight skipped the missing ones. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n):n QA Procedures Done (y/n):n UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 38485, plate -9999 ------- 21:20 38485 0.0 bias 21:23 38486 0.0 bias ----- sequence 38487, plate 1707 ------- 21:27 38487 10.0 flat 21:30 38488 2.0 arc 21:33 38489 2.1 arc 21:36 38490 2.1 arc 21:49 38491 2.1 arc 21:51 38492 2.1 arc ----- sequence 38493, plate -9999 ------- 00:24 38493 0.0 bias 00:27 38494 0.0 bias ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 21:23Z disconnected 1.00012 -1185 300 0 121 30.4 12.6 9 194 ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 19:14Z 58 14 11 212 (SSW) 1907 - MstlyCldy 19:47Z 56 12 9 212 (SSW) 1848 - MstlyCldy 20:19Z 54 12 9 248 (WSW) 2010 - MstlyCldy 20:51Z 56 13 6 184 (S) 2091 - MstlyCldy 21:22Z 54 11 3 212 (SSW) 2042 - MstlyCldy 21:53Z 56 14 6 239 (WSW) 1994 - MstlyCldy 22:23Z 56 14 5 256 (WSW) 1899 - MstlyCldy 22:56Z 55 13 4 255 (WSW) 2067 - MstlyCldy 23:28Z 54 13 5 195 (SSW) 1748 - MstlyCldy 23:56Z 53 13 6 182 (S) 1304 - ' 00:28Z 53 12 5 232 (SW) 1468 - ' 01:00Z 51 11 6 184 (S) 1436 - ' 01:32Z 48 10 5 168 (SSE) 1951 - ' 02:04Z 50 10 8 181 (S) 1456 - ' 02:37Z 49 10 2 236 (SW) 1705 - ' 03:10Z 50 10 4 193 (SSW) 1597 - ' 03:41Z 48 10 6 129 (SE) 1783 - ' 04:13Z 47 9 7 133 (SE) 1818 - ' 04:45Z 48 9 9 143 (SE) 2054 - ' 05:17Z 49 9 7 180 (S) 2076 - ' 05:50Z 47 9 5 171 (S) 1977 - ' 06:22Z 51 11 8 198 (SSW) 2087 - ' 06:54Z 50 11 8 186 (S) 1985 - ' 07:26Z 50 11 8 177 (S) 2101 - ' 07:58Z 47 11 6 155 (SSE) 1973 - ' 08:30Z 46 12 4 126 (SE) 1959 - ' 09:02Z 46 14 17 147 (SSE) 1988 - ' 09:35Z 46 17 9 137 (SE) 2684 - ' 10:05Z 47 18 11 157 (SSE) 2563 - ' 10:37Z 47 20 20 149 (SSE) 2606 - ' 11:09Z 46 23 19 160 (SSE) 2673 - part cloudy ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 00:50Z - Opened doors, turned on ventilation system. 07:40Z - Closed doors and shut off ventilation, since dust levels were marginal. 11:06Z - Telescope stowed at 30 deg alt with cart 3 mounted.
