APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Friday April 7, 2006 (MJD 53833) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Mike Harvanek Jian Ge, Suvrath Mahadevan, Xiaoke Wan (the ET crew) John Barentine (PT) Dan Long (by phone) Jon Brinkmann (by phone) Steph Snedden (by phone) ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- ET science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- Although the weather conditions were good for most of the night, work on the ET instrument prevented us from going on the sky. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- Saw PLC mismatch errors in both the watcher and the mcp menu. Called Dan Long and he informed me that the PLC code had been changed and the mismatch errors were expected and should be benign. No other problems during checkout. Night: ------ Work on the ET instrument delayed removal of the enclosure. Ventilation started around 01:45Z. The dust count exceeded the limit and ventilation was stopped around 04:10Z. The dust count dropped below the limit around 06:27Z but humidity was rising rapidly. After waiting for the humidity to stabilize, ventilation began again around 08:17Z. Around 09:50Z the ET crew decided we would not be going on sky tonight. Ventilation stopped around 09:54Z and everything was shut down. Other than the one dust event, weather conditions were acceptable all night. I helped the ET crew replug some of their plates. The table at the west end of the plug plate lab (the one holding the pink leveling stone) got bumped by the manipulator arm. I hope that's not a big problem. endNight (iop v4_18_0a) rejoiced. Note that no imaging data (not even a test bias) were obtained tonight. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): YES QA Procedures Done (y/n): N/A UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 38568, plate -9999 ------- 21:06 38568 0.0 bias 01:11 38569 0.0 bias 01:31 38570 0.0 bias ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JL Stays: JL ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 00:27Z 45 8 2 343 (NNW) 447 - 00:58Z 45 8 7 345 (NNW) 485 - partly cloudy 01:28Z 45 7 3 42 (NE) 489 - partly cloudy 01:58Z 43 1 8 11 (N) 589 - partly cloudy 02:28Z 47 2 1 125 (SE) 522 - partly cloudy 03:00Z 45 5 8 112 (ESE) 466 - partly cloudy 03:32Z 44 10 14 113 (ESE) 430 - partly cloudy 04:04Z 39 12 25 77 (ENE) 3223 - partly cloudy 04:36Z 34 24 24 75 (ENE) 3431 - clear 05:08Z 33 24 17 78 (ENE) 3314 - partly cloudy 05:41Z 33 25 17 74 (ENE) 2237 - partly cloudy 06:13Z 32 25 20 75 (ENE) 2310 - light clouds 06:45Z 32 25 23 77 (ENE) 1099 - light clouds 07:17Z 32 24 20 75 (ENE) 999 - clear 07:49Z 32 24 15 80 (E) 711 - clear 08:21Z 33 23 14 76 (ENE) 625 - clear 08:53Z 35 20 12 78 (ENE) 699 - clear 09:26Z 35 20 10 78 (ENE) 595 - clear 09:58Z 36 18 4 120 (ESE) 676 - clear 10:30Z 37 17 5 84 (E) 776 - clear 11:02Z 38 14 1 146 (SE) 799 - clear ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 01:45Z Enclosure doors opened, fans and blowers on, louvers opened. 04:10Z Doors closed, fans and blowers off, louvers closed (dust). 08:17Z Enclosure doors opened, fans and blowers on, louvers opened. 09:54Z Doors closed, fans and blowers off, louvers closed.
