We finished four plates (2508, 1805, 2200 and 2107) and collected signal on one more (2134). ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- While checking fiducial crossings the rotator aborted at 6 degrees, 37 minutes at about 23:59:40Z. The rotator was moving from 22 degrees to 0 degrees at the time. It took 2 axis inits to clear the problem. After that, motion proceeded normally. Threatening clouds and light rain prevented ventilation. Due to the large difference in temperature between outside and inside the enclosure (16.2 C vs. 10.2 C), a full blown collimation check was not performed. The xsigma and wsigma values of the flat and arc showed the spectrographs to be in collimation for the inside temperature of 10.2 C. No other problems to report. Night: ------ Clouds and radar returns persisted after sunset. We decided the threat of rain had receded enough by 03:00Z to ventilate. Open at 03:50Z. 04:06Z Cart 6 Plate 2508 (tile 1733, chunk143). GSOGTF. Still had some lingering clouds so the efficiency is not as high as it could be. Finished this plate in 1500, 1300 and 900 s, respectively. SoS asked for a postCalib but didn't get around to doing that until we were already into the instChange. 05:36Z Cart 4 Plate 1805 (tile 1343, chunk94). GSOGTF. Seeing steady at 1.1 arcsec, and sky progressively clearing until it was eventually photometric before we finished this plate. The seeing worsened a little during this plate and efficiency backed off to about 70%, so we had to do a fourth exposure after 2 x 1000s and 1 x 1200s in order to finish. 07:16Z Cart 8 Plate 2200 (tile 1584, chunk115). GSOGTF. Seeing a little worse now with a stronger, more northwesterly wind. We began with a total (S/N)^2 = 7.1 on this plate from last night. Done in two exposures of 1300 and 900 s, respectively. 08:06Z Cart 3 Plate 2134 (tile 1538, chunk109). GSOGTF. When we acquired this plate's field, only 30 minutes remained until the plate expired. We decided to skip the preCalib and get right on to the science, then do a postCalib and an sos_redo before switching to the next plate. We did 2 x 900 s exposures and an additional 600 s exposure, not quite finishing this plate. 09:20Z Cart 7 Plate 2170 (tile 1562, chunk112). GSOGTF. Pushed this one into the start of twilight in order to finish it.
