APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Sunday October 8, 2006 (MJD 54017) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Kaike Pan ET crew: Julian Van Eyken Jian Ge ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- ET Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- Most of the night was lost to high humidity and clouds. We opened twince and had one 50-min exposure on plates 8032 and 8033. tccmon: Looks like that the current version of tccmon is still V2_7. Should we declare the test version, V2_8, to be the current one? Problems: 1) a loud noise heard when getting enclouse off (see log). However, I did not heard the noise when re-opened at 6:30Z. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- 00:30Z humidity was high. The dewpoint split at 1.2 C. 01:30Z satellite images showed that we were in a little soccer hole. The dewpoint split bounced between 2.9 and 3.5. So Fans on, louvers open. 01:45Z dewpoint split dropped below 2.8, Fans of, louvers close. 03:20Z dewpoint split up to 3.5 C, and sky looked okay (in another soccer hole). Fans on, louvers and doors open. 03:45Z mounted cart 8, enclosure off. The 2.5-meter enclosure made a loud (bang! bang! bang!) noise when I opened tonight. The noise was coming from the wheel area on the northeast end of the building. 04:00Z cart 8, plt 8032. FK5 used. 04:06Z started a 50 min exposure. 04:50Z, dewpoint split droppped below 3 C, since we were only about 5 minutes away from finishing this shot. I decided to let it finish. 05:00Z enclosure on, fans off, louvers and doors close due to high humidity. 06:00Z humidity was okay but clouds came in. 06:30Z enclosure off, fans on, louvers open. When re-open, I did not heard the loud noise. 06:45Z cart 1, plt 8033. Tried two offsets in A and got guiding stars. 06:50Z, started a 50-min exposure. 07:50Z closed for threathening clouds and high humidity. 11:15Z humidity still high, dewpoint split at 1.0 C. We decided to call it a night. endNight rejoiced. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): QA Procedures Done (y/n): UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 04:22Z 8 8032 -24.65 -0.0000 74.99 0.0012 158.15 -0.0096 1.000140 07:18Z 1 8033 26.04 -0.0000 69.05 0.0012 202.28 -0.0096 1.000200 ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JL Stays: JL ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 00:38Z 1 0 1.00000 0 1257 0 121 30.0 8.7 1 123 04:22Z 8 8032 1.00014 -1383 269 290 -25 75.0 7.4 12 151 1.8 07:17Z 1 8033 1.00020 -1975 -442 60 26 69.0 7.8 14 158 1.5 ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 22:12Z 53 43 6 271 (W) 168 - partly cloudy 22:45Z 52 44 6 267 (W) 149 - partly cloudy 23:17Z 51 44 5 296 (WNW) 171 - partly cloudy 23:49Z 51 47 4 250 (WSW) 157 - partly cloudy 00:21Z 48 45 0 232 (SW) 174 - partly cloudy 00:53Z 48 43 1 111 (ESE) 166 - partly cloudy 01:25Z 47 41 1 176 (S) 188 - partly cloudy 01:57Z 46 43 7 117 (ESE) 203 - partly cloudy 02:29Z 45 43 9 151 (SSE) 204 - partly cloudy 03:00Z 46 39 11 151 (SSE) 196 - partly cloudy 03:32Z 46 37 16 139 (SE) 211 - partly cloudy 04:04Z 46 36 14 142 (SE) 180 - partly cloudy 04:34Z 45 37 14 132 (SE) 193 - partly cloudy 05:04Z 43 41 17 124 (SE) 180 - partly cloudy 05:34Z 45 38 13 148 (SSE) 183 - 06:05Z 45 38 14 145 (SE) 183 - 06:38Z 45 39 17 134 (SE) 183 - 07:11Z 45 36 14 164 (SSE) 181 - 07:43Z 45 39 16 141 (SE) 192 - 08:15Z 44 40 22 126 (SE) 223 - 08:47Z 44 42 14 158 (SSE) 233 - 09:17Z 46 41 17 179 (S) 187 - 09:47Z 44 43 14 152 (SSE) 229 - 10:18Z 45 43 16 160 (SSE) 226 - 10:48Z 45 43 16 168 (SSE) 299 - ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 03:20Z Fans, louvers open. 03:45Z enclosure off. 05:00Z encloure on, fans of, louver and doors close due to high humidity. 06:30Z enclosure off, fans on, louvers open. 07:45Z enclosure on, fans off, doors and louvers close. 11:25Z telescope at 121, 30 with cartridge 1 mounted. imager dewar: 185 lb, 19.4 psi ---=== SOFTWARE USED ===--- IOP/SOP: v4_26_0a Watcher: v2_34_0 MCP: v6_3_2 TPM: tpm_v3_3_0 AstroDa: v15_13 TCC: TCC 2.7.2.1 August 6 2004 sdssProcedures: SoS: hoggPT: plate-mapper: ---=== MIRROR NUMBERS ===--- PRIMARY: -------- Scale: 1.000000 MIGS TONIGHT NOMINAL Axial A 24.6830 24.6750 Axial B 26.2550 26.2540 Axial C 25.3360 25.3490 Trans D 13.5660 13.5760 Lateral E 9.9568 9.9568 Lateral F 11.5316 11.5316 GALILS Commanded: 4600. -2000. 2650. -9300. -9800. -9800.
