There was a problem with a bad parameter from calcStripeParams putting NaNs in the disk summary file, which may affect photo. o Imaged 1356 N from mu 102 to 120 in excellent seeing and photometric conditions. We may have lost the last five degrees to a small cloud, and ask Steve to make the call on whether the small chunk should be reimaged. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- Telescope has been checked. All systems work fine. Spectro Collimation has been done and focusing on expected night temp.= +6.0C. Time exposure on Spectro Collimation has been equal 3 sec. The details - in to "Problems' section. The PT has been checked. It works fine; Biases and Dom Flats have been obtained. Disk space has been checked and cleaned. Now there is: /files partition ~99 Gb and /data partition 398 Gb. 22:55Z Enclosure doors opened, fans and blowers on, louvers opened. Night: ------ We set up for Supernova on 82 S. 00:20Z - Run 6507 - On telescope bias 01:19Z - Run 6508 - 82 S - Supernova - startLambda = 111 01:35Z - start of science frame 32, lambda 115. In focus by frame 19. Skippy was good from the beginning. 02:35Z - It is now non-photometric. Thin clouds are evident in the data after frame 160. They should still be useful. 06:54Z - It was much clearer - almost, but not quite, photometric. 07:43Z - Close to photometric, but a spider on the cloud camera gave false readings. 08:00Z - Photometric at frame 690 09:31Z - end of science, frame 833, lambda -125 09:40Z - end of drift, frame 847, lambda -123. Seeing was good throughout, with variably cloudy conditions as noted above. At the end of the drift, the idReport failed to generate, complaining of a problem in calcStripeParams. We had no obvious clue anything was wrong until we ended the drift and got an error message. The error message is in the problems section. 09:44Z - Run 6509 - SEGUE 1356 N - startMu 98 The rotator error was 0.05 degrees, which is just over the edge of our tolerance. However, if we stopped to correct we would be in the situation of having too high a rotator rate. Since the PSFs and FWHMs looked good, we elected to continue. We think the data are just fine, and thetaf improved as we went on. Focus loop and nu error were good from the start 09:54Z - start of ramp, frame 19, mu 100 10:02Z - start of science at frame 32, mu 102. 10:53Z - clouds approaching from the SW, but not yet near the field. Data should still be good. 11:01Z - Mu 117, frame 133, a cloud passed through the field. It is no longer photometric. However it is too late to switch to spectroscopy. The cloud was gone in a few (about three) frames, and it appeared to be clear in the area of the field again. We kept imaging and will leave it to Steve to decide if we should rescan any of the field after mu 117. 11:13Z - Mu 120, frame 153, end of science. 11:25Z - Mu 123, frame 173, end of ramp, but we let the run continue because we have the time. 11:30Z - Mu 125, frame 186, end of drift. endNight finished. We started photo on the run 6508 data, and it seemed to start okay, but because of the idReport problem, we called Rick to give him a heads-up that there could be problems down the line. ---===
