APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Thursday January 18, 2007 (MJD 54119) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Kaike Pan Steph Snedden Mike Harvanek (swing) Audrey Simmons (training) ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- Clouds! Snow! Dithered flats were taken for Craig. Snow accumulations were less than an inch by morning, but the storm hadn't quite reached us yet. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- The 90 degree alt fiducial did not read in either direction. The 45 degree alt fiducial did not read going up. Spectro collimation was adjusted. Details are in the Problems section. After collimation, the wavelength positioning was also adjusted. Again, details are in the Problems section. Nothing else to report. Night: ------ Clouds at sunset and a threat of precipitation. We weren't even tempted to open. 02:16Z - Since the spectro focus was set for warmer temps tonight, we thought we could get dithered flats without running the actuators into a limit. We were able to, indeed, and here is the relevant info for Craig: Dithered flats on Cartridge 3 (plate 2637) 15 flats: Frames 42571 - 42585 2 arcs: Frames 42586 - 42587 Clouds persisted all night. It started snowing at about 08:15Z, although not much snow accumulated by morning. We were never able to open. endNight was happy. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6680 22:12Z 22:28Z 100 O 160.20 164.17 41 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n):n QA Procedures Done (y/n):n UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 42560, plate -9999 ------- 22:09 42560 0.0 bias ----- sequence 42561, plate 2637 ------- 23:06 42561 10.0 flat collimation and 23:08 42562 2.0 arc lambda adjust 23:28 42563 10.0 flat " 23:30 42564 2.0 arc " 23:56 42565 10.0 flat " 23:59 42566 2.0 arc " 00:20 42567 10.0 flat " 00:22 42568 2.0 arc " ----- sequence 42569, plate -9999 ------- 01:09 42569 0.0 bias 01:15 42570 0.0 bias ----- sequence 42571, plate 2637 ------- 03:02 42571 10.0 flat dithered flats 03:06 42572 10.0 flat " 03:10 42573 10.0 flat " 03:14 42574 10.0 flat " 03:18 42575 10.0 flat " 03:22 42576 10.0 flat " 03:26 42577 10.0 flat " 03:30 42578 10.0 flat " 03:34 42579 10.0 flat " 03:38 42580 10.0 flat " 03:42 42581 10.0 flat " 03:47 42582 10.0 flat " 03:50 42583 10.0 flat " 03:55 42584 10.0 flat " 03:59 42585 10.0 flat " 04:02 42586 2.0 arc " 04:05 42587 2.0 arc " ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 21:35Z 34 27 -9999 -9999 (N) 296 - 22:06Z 33 27 -9999 -9999 (N) 280 - 22:36Z 32 27 -9999 -9999 (N) 268 - 23:06Z 32 26 -9999 -9999 (N) 276 - 23:38Z 32 23 -9999 -9999 (N) 308 - overcast 00:10Z 31 18 -9999 -9999 (N) 301 - overcast 00:38Z 31 18 -9999 -9999 (N) 296 - ' 01:11Z 30 19 -9999 -9999 (N) 295 - ' 01:43Z 30 19 -9999 -9999 (N) 326 - ' 02:15Z 30 18 -9999 -9999 (N) 300 - ' 02:47Z 29 17 -9999 -9999 (N) 326 - ' 03:19Z 28 16 -9999 -9999 (N) 308 - ' 03:51Z 30 17 -9999 -9999 (N) 309 - ' 04:21Z 29 16 -9999 -9999 (N) 342 - ' 04:52Z 31 18 -9999 -9999 (N) 259 - ' 05:22Z 32 19 -9999 -9999 (N) 273 - ' 05:52Z 33 21 -9999 -9999 (N) 279 - ' 06:22Z 32 21 -9999 -9999 (N) 295 - ' 06:52Z 31 23 -9999 -9999 (N) 289 - ' 07:22Z 30 22 -9999 -9999 (N) 313 - ' 07:52Z 30 23 -9999 -9999 (N) 300 - ' 08:23Z 29 26 -9999 -9999 (N) 410 - light snow 08:55Z 29 27 -9999 -9999 (N) 382 - ' 09:28Z 29 27 -9999 -9999 (N) 345 - ' 10:00Z 29 28 -9999 -9999 (N) 366 - ' 10:32Z 29 28 -9999 -9999 (N) 354 - ' 11:04Z 29 28 -9999 -9999 (N) 328 - ' 11:37Z 29 28 -9999 -9999 (N) 293 - ' ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- Never opened or ventilated.
