Seeing was bad during the first 2.5 hours, became good at about 1.4". We finidhed four cartridges (plates: 1715, 2649, 2145, and 2153), and still need one more exposure to declare plate 2389 done. A head-up for plate 2559 (the last observation was made on mjd 54208: The plate was unplugged BEFORE it was declared done in the database. Not sure if this will effect the reduction process. A heads-up to the engineers: The west latch problem is not better, in fact it appears to be getting worse. It seems that it is sensor problem because the manu mode does work. See the log body. Some spectra (e.g. apoplot, 2145, 489, nsmooth=5) on plate 2145 look strang to us. we had some dust spike, please check the mirror if possible. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: --------- The telescope has been checked and prepared for observations. All systems are functioning properly. The collimation is set for 4.5C. Test imager drift is called as a "bias" by mistake, please, use "ignore" flavor instead. The ventilation is delayed because of strong wind (up to 50 mph). Cart 1, plate 2610 is mounted. Night: ------ Clear, but dusty and windy at sunset. There was another problem with the west latch when trying to remove the cartridge on the telescope to exchange it for the first cartridge of the night. The latch would not disengage. The latch sounded like it was moving, but the west unlatch LED flickered then went out again. Finally, On the sixth try, the unlatch LED came on and we were able to remove the cartridge. 01:40Z dust counts went down to about 1K, we started ventilation. But at the moment, wind speed was still high. 02:00Z winds settle down. Enclosure off. 02:40Z cart 2, plt 2389 (segue). FK5 used. 03:15Z pre-calib. Seeing was above 3". 03:30Z started 30 min exposure. 04:02Z started one 25 min exposure. Seeing improved to about 2"-2.5". We had 4X30 min exposure on this plate, got b2 S/N^2 at 24.0, need one more exposure on this plate. 05:12Z cart 6, plate 2649 (chunk). We had the west latch problem again. When unlatch cartridge 2, LED showed that the west latch did not release. After 5 attempts: latch and unlatch, we decided to switch to manu mode (if it is sensor problem, manu mode should work. After we switch to manu mode, the LED still show the same, we gently lowered down the lift, the cartrdge did come down with the lift. So we think it is latch sensor problem. About 6 minutes was billed to the problem. SOGTF. 05:23 started the first exposure. Howard SOP session was frozen when the instChange was issued from there. But after tcc timeout, the seesion came back, and everything seems fine. The plate was DONE with 3x900s and one 600s explosure. The sky was clear and seeing was 1.4. But we do not have any available image strip, so continue with spectro. 07:50Z cart 3, plate 1715 (chunk). SOGTF. Because temp was below 0, and we got two yellow Wsigma in the postCalib of the last plate, Howard moved collimation -2000. 08:05 started the first exposure. The plate was DONE with 2x900s and one 1200s exposure. 09:15Z cart 9, plate 2145 (chunk). SOGTF.
