APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Monday September 17, 2007 (MJD 54361) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Swing: Kaike Pan Night: Elena Malanushenko Howard Brewington Phone: Steph Snedden Connie Rockosi ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- SN Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- The night was lost because of clouds, rain and/or high humidity. CW #1 did not move to the correct position; see log. Critical-alert email posted about the imager; see log. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- The Alt fiducial at 88 degree never read out since I am being dayshift. But it read out this afternoon on the first slew. I gave it the second try, it did read out again. Night: ------ We had clouds at sunset, do we waited for better conditions. 03:36Z Mounted imager When the telescope was re-balanced, the CWs were moved to 690lbs; however, CW number-one moved to about 704lbs instead. This was confirmed with a visual check. 03:46Z Performed on-telescope bias; run #6968. 04:16Z Rain started; doors and louvers closed; fans off. 04:32Z We got an critical-alert email about the imager, which stated there was no response. When we did a "cc imstat" or a "cc ping," we did not get the proper return. We called Steph, and she asked that we check the power supplies on the imager. We did and confirmed that all volates were good. Next, we called Connie and she asked that we do a "cc camcheck". We got the return of "CCD61_I+TRIM2 178" which indicated the imager was happy. Connie thinks the problem was probably a server and not the imager. Beyond our conversation with Connie, Steph asked that we do an iack and an imager bias. All seemed okay. 06:46Z Watcher reported that the spectro server was unhappy; it was restarted. 10:20Z endNight finished and was happy ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6967 23:11Z 01:39Z 100 O 53.45 90.50 262 ignore 6968 03:46Z 04:06Z 100 O 122.30 127.43 47 bias 6969 05:26Z 06:02Z 100 O 147.41 156.59 75 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): QA Procedures Done (y/n): UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 22:51Z 60 49 18 220 (SW) 2207 - 23:21Z 55 50 14 238 (WSW) 2239 - 23:53Z 56 50 16 236 (SW) 2227 - 00:25Z 56 49 11 240 (WSW) 1015 - 00:57Z 57 47 17 252 (WSW) 1055 - 01:30Z 55 47 15 247 (WSW) 921 - 02:02Z 55 47 19 231 (SW) 486 - 02:34Z 55 47 17 244 (WSW) 272 - 03:06Z 55 46 19 240 (WSW) 143 - 03:38Z 55 46 14 251 (WSW) 287 - 04:10Z 54 46 15 262 (W) 74 - 04:42Z 53 46 10 264 (W) 447 - 05:19Z 53 48 15 264 (W) 236 - 05:51Z 52 48 15 267 (W) 61 - 06:23Z 53 49 19 259 (W) 578 - 06:53Z 52 49 13 265 (W) 130 - 07:25Z 51 50 15 266 (W) 112 - 07:57Z 51 50 13 266 (W) 0 - 08:30Z 51 50 12 269 (W) 1 - 09:02Z 50 49 10 266 (W) 1 - 09:34Z 50 49 9 247 (WSW) 0 - 10:06Z 49 49 9 263 (W) 0 - ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 01:10Z Opened louvers, cracked doors, turned on fans. 04:15Z Doors and louvers closed, fans off No interlocks bypassed.
