APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Friday November 9, 2007 (MJD 54414) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Dan Oravetz (swing) Jon Brinkmann (support) Howard Brewington (observer) Dmitry Bizyaev (observer) ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- SEGUE Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- SEGUE spectroscopy all night. Done: cart 2 plate 2305 cart 7 plate 2699 Some signal got for cart 5 plate 2815 "" cart 6 plate 2825, not done because of cloudy sky cart 4 plate 2727 "" ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- Rebooted the crates since id1 was not available when 'iccSoundOff' was issued. Everything came back happy and responsive. We switched over to the new sdsshost2 and ran into some problems with the murmur logs not updating, the guider camera not updating frames in the startMon, SoS not copying data and crunching through reductions, and some other miscellaneous problems, but Jon fixed these problems as they popped up. I tried taking an imager bias and got the following error: im> goDrift -bias ===In 2 Frames the node id1 will die. should id1 continue lemming-like to its doom? [n] n Insufficent pool disk space, stopped by user request Error: Aborting because pool is full After restarting iop and issuing 'initNight -poolInit', I was able to take a bias. I did not have time to run goSpecFocus and do the collimation since we were dealing with problems from transitioning to the new sdsshost2, but the spectro focus should still be set for ~6C from yesterday. I ran 'byebye' on 54388, 54389, 54390, 54391, 54392, 54393, 54394, 54395, 54397, and 54399. These data were copied onto the new sdsshost2 something like a week ago when the switch to the new sdsshost2 was planned for the bright time. As of 00:08Z there are 432G free on /data and 504G free on /files. 23:15Z - Began ventilation. Doors and louvers opened, fans on. It takes a lot of resources, and current information on S/N doesn't come to SoS. We don't have a tool to decide if a plate is done or not! 01:35Z Jon did sos_stop and deleted those nights have been transferred to Fermilab. After this SoS took the current night and started to reduce current night data. We have a hope to have this tool back soon. 01:45Z current information is going to obvious SoS page 2) Numerous little problems with software: sop didn't want to move telescope, restarted and re-logged, worked well then. 3) m1 mig (Communications Fault: 2007-11-10 00:14:09Z) tmicro (Disconnected Sensor in M2B7:Disconnected Sensor in M2B6:Disconnected Sensor in M2B5:Disconnected Sensor in M2B4:Disconnected Sensor in M2B3:Disconnected Sensor in M2B2:Disconnected Sensor in M2B1:Disconnected Sensor in M2B0:Disconnected Sensor in M1B7:Disconnected Sensor in M1B6:Disconnected Sensor in M1B5:Disconnected Sensor in M1B4:Disconnected Sensor in M1B3:Disconnected Sensor in M1B2:Disconnected Sensor in M1B1:Disconnected Sensor in M1B0:Disconnected Sensor in M0B7:Disconnected Sensor in M0B6:Disconnected Sensor in M0B5:Disconnected Sensor in M0B4:Disconnected Sensor in M0B3:Disconnected Sensor in M0B2:Disconnected Sensor in M0B1:Disconnected Sensor in M0B0:Communications Fault: 2007-11-10 00:14:09Z ) m2 galil (Communications Fault: 2007-11-10 00:14:09Z) m1 galil (Communications Fault: 2007-11-10 00:14:09Z) m2 mig (Communications Fault: 2007-11-10 00:14:09Z) Text="doread failed":: (2007-11-10 00:13:53Z) GCamReply="could not open file: guider:gimg1375.fits:error: No Error ": (2007-11-10 00: --- 4) 00:55Z - fuducials corrections in AZ were large.
