APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Sunday August 24, 2008 (MJD 54703) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Dmitry Bizyaev Steph Snedden New Guider crew: David Sclegel (LBNL) Paul Hrading (Case) ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Whatever shakedown is possible. ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- Dan, the following is a request from Connie as relayed by Paul: After finishing pumping the red camera, please pump the warmed up blue camera for a few hours or until it also gets down to a respectable vacuum. The imager exec and phase micros reset during the day. The pool disk transfer issue was resolved (hardware problem). The sos-rsync problem was resolved. Sp1 was pumped on all night. The 2.5m dewpoint sensor temps are still crazy. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Dan came in this afternoon to start warming up and pumping down sp1. With the telescope pinned at zenith and sporting a vacuum pump, that pretty much put the kibosh on any on-sky tests and spectro monthly checkout. It will be a short night tonight. 23:20Z - During afternoon checkout's imager bias, IOP and the Watcher told us we needed an iack. The micros had reset. exec micro (UNACKNOWLEDGED: 2008-08-25 21:44:50Z phase micro (UNACKNOWLEDGED: 2008-08-25 21:44:50Z) 03:30Z - With Jon's help, we tracked the pool disk transfer problem to a poorly seated ethernet connector on sdssfiles1. Transfers started up immediately after it was reseated. 06:19Z - Jon responded that the .ssh/config file had been altered on sos, which was what prevented the rsyncs for Son of Spectro. Dan asked us to log the vacuum on the sp1 camera from time to time. The start time on pumping was 02:00Z: UT vacuum -- ------ 02:00Z 500 uTorr - The vacuum then very quickly went to: 02:02Z 1.1 uTorr 03:00Z 0.95 uTorr 04:00Z 0.91 uTorr 05:00Z 0.85 uTorr 06:05Z 0.84 uTorr 07:10Z 0.80 uTorr 08:02Z 0.77 uTorr 09:40Z 0.73 uTorr Comment: It seemed to pump down pretty quickly. We'd expect it to take longer if the vacuum were compromised. 08:12Z endNight finished and rejoiced ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7649 02:48Z 02:59Z 100 O 84.93 87.59 32 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): QA Procedures Done (y/n): UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 23:50Z 59 48 7 91 (E) 724 - 00:22Z 57 47 11 110 (ESE) 803 - 00:55Z 57 46 10 105 (ESE) 757 - 01:27Z 56 46 17 85 (E) 860 - 01:59Z 55 46 15 104 (ESE) 834 - 02:31Z 54 48 18 78 (ENE) 951 - 03:03Z 54 48 9 97 (E) 949 - 03:35Z 53 49 13 118 (ESE) 994 - 04:07Z 53 49 12 110 (ESE) 963 - 04:40Z 53 50 8 89 (E) 1070 - 05:12Z 53 50 7 89 (E) 1091 - 05:44Z 52 50 12 80 (E) 1104 - 06:16Z 52 50 11 98 (E) 1106 - 06:48Z 52 50 12 89 (E) 1215 - 07:36Z 52 50 12 90 (E) 1350 - 08:08Z 52 49 16 87 (E) 1277 - 08:41Z 51 49 12 81 (E) 1366 - 09:13Z 51 49 13 76 (ENE) 1494 - 09:45Z 51 49 10 81 (E) 1562 - ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- Status at: 08:20Z Telescope stowed at: 90,121,00 mount sp1 is being pumped Instrument mounted: Cartridge 6 Counterweights at: 404 lbs LN2 autofill systems: Connected and turned on. 180L LN2 dewar scales: Spectro 169 lbs, 16.4 psi Imager 129 lbs, 18.8 psi ---=== SOFTWARE USED ===--- IOP/SOP: v4_38_0 Watcher: v2_36_0 MCP: v6_4_0 TPM: tpm_v3_5_0 AstroDa: v15_13_1 TCC: TCC 2.7.2.1 August 6 2004 sdssProcedures: v2_42 SoS: v5_1_8 plate-mapper: v4_3_1 ---=== MIRROR NUMBERS ===--- ---=== PROBLEMS IN DETAIL ===--- see the log section.
