BOSS Imaging: ------------- Completed all of stripe 81 S from lambda 130 to -138 including ramps. Seeing averaged 1.0-1.1" Completed the last half of stripe 80 N from lambda 178 to -138 including ramps (not enough time to finish the entire stripe). Seeing averaged 1.3" No problems to report. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- No problems during checkout. Spectral collimation left the same as last night ~8-9C. 00:10Z - Began ventilating, with the doors and louvers open, fans on. Night: ------ 00:50Z - Opened enclosure to clear skies. Note: When we forced a fill, only spectroraph 2 started filling. When it was finished, we issued another force fill and this time spectrograph 1 began filling. 00:51Z - Sunset. 01:20Z - goToField cart 1, segue aug08d plate 3129. Could not find guide stars, nor an fk5. The offsets were cleared, and an fk5 was spotted. Seeing was ~1.2" without a focus loop. We decided to switch to BOSS imaging. 01:30Z - Mounted imager. 01:46Z - Imager bias, run #7716, frames 8-32. 02:03Z - scanStripe 81 S start_lambda 126. tccSetFocus -250. Altitude 58 degrees. 02:04Z - goDrfit for stripe 81S. Run #7717. Seeing 1.0". Focus happy from frame 13. Skippy happy from the beginning. 02:08Z - 18-degree twilight ends. 02:20Z - Start ramp lambda 130, frame 32. 02:27Z - Start science lambda 132, frame 45. A very tiny cloud was seen drifting from the very northwest to the very northeast part of the cloud camera (the telescope was pointed to the south). The cloud was not big enough to register on the photometric sky standard graph. It lasted from lambda -154 to -147. 08:16Z - Science ended lambda -140, frame 633. 08:26Z - Ramp ended lambda -138, frame 647. 08:26Z - endDrift. Average seeing ~1.0-1.1 throughout entire drfit. The seeing never surpassed 1.3". We continued to image since we still had photometric skies and excellent seeing. There was not enough time left in the night to complete an entire drift, so we decided to begin a stripe at its half way point. We plan to complete the last ~3 hours of the drift. 08:28Z - scanStripe 80 N start_lambda 177. Altitude 50 degrees. 08:30Z - goDrift for stripe 80 N. Run #7718. Seeing 1.0" Focus good from start. Average seeing ~1.3". It one very brief spike up to 1.7". This stripe is half-way done. 11:37Z - 18-degree twilight begins. 11:45Z - Put imager away and mounted cart 1. Closed enclosure.
