The problem was solved by opening another SEGUE iop session and running goDrift from there. Something is wrong with SEGUE scanStripe command, as soon as we issued the command telrun complained (see the problem section). We finished SEGUE strip: 1220 S, SEGlongs for beginning and the end of drift: 272.7 , 302.8 (see imaging details). and done strip: 82 S, between (beginning and the end of the drift lambdas): 159.5 , -123.3 (see imaging details). endNight error - see the log or the problem section. endNight left running, please check on spectro-tpm tapes. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: No spectro collimation check because the imager was mounted. Everything went smoothly during afternoon checkout. Night: ------ We accidently tried to run goDrift -bias from a SEGUE iop window at the beginning of our observing shift (during twilight). Then we run bias drift from usual iop: 01:45Z goDrift -bias - didn't run, connetion refused. telnet to t-g-sdss-2.apo.nmsu.edu 2000 and loging out prot 18 solved the problem. Then we checked if: iccExec [photoList] statusDump daqBusy gives us any error message, but it was fine. So we chcecked if we can run goDrift -bias from usual (non SEGUE) iop window and we could. Since accidently we tried to run bias from SEGUE iop at the beginning of our observing, so maybe some variable in that iop window were set to bad values causing problems? We opened another SEGUE iop window and tried goDrift from that one and it started properly, so at 02:23Z we repositioned the telescope to 270.5 without stopping the drift. Run 4143 - SEGUE stripe 1220. In focus since frame 21 (SEGLong 272.5). But seeing is bad:~2.0" Since seeing seems to improve, we decided to stay longer on that stripe and back off when the seeing will get better or do Apache wheel, when spoke 330 will became available. 03:43Z Atsuko is meditating, hoping that her will will strenghten enough so she will be able to move a tip of the seeing plot below the RED line... 03:49Z Seeing got in spec finaly. We endDrifted run 4143 and call it ignore. 03:52Z We moved back to the beginning of the SEGUE strip 1220 S and started the scan again. Run 4144, in focus since the beginning. Drift started at SEGlong 272.7. Frame 15, beggining of the science SEGlongitude. Acceptable and good untill, seeing went bad between frames 49-88 (SEGlong: 167.5-173.2). The rest of the scan was good. 05:50Z Run 4144 endDrifted, frame 201, SEGlong: 302.8. Ath this time, the axis rate for the end of the nothern part of this stripe is too high, this is why we went for a southern strip. 05:55Z Run 4145, strip 82 S. Beginning of data taking at lambda 159.5, in focus since the start, seeing in spec, skippy is happy too. Science frame 27 at lambda 162. 06:12Z We lost our focusLoop pgplot window, however focus loop was running. We stopped the focusLoop and from another iop session run it again. Our plot came back (and in colors!) :). Bad seeing: frames 49 - 88, longitude 167.5 -173.2, then was good or acceptable till the end of the run. End of science at frame 507, lambda -126. We stopped the drift at frame 525, lambda -123.3 11:10Z Run 4146. Started Jim's donuts: in focus (-228), -300 out of focus, +300 out of focus frame: 10 14 18 Donuts stored in: /data/photo/optics/52910 11:18Z Run 4147. Bias with imager at the telescope.
