SEGUE strip 1300, S done from: 79.6 -> 123.1 (this include ramps). Last 1 deg of the scan (half of the ramp) was done in twilight. nuError got rised from 2" to over 18.2" within 2.7 hours of the scan and the last ~3 degrees of that drift were done with nuError > 18", but we didn't correct for it. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Swing shift =========== Spectrograph focus checked and adjusted. See end of log. The doghouse bias (T-bars latched) showed no signs of aberrent bias behavoir. I accidentally marked this run (4882) as "bias" - it should be "ignore". The 30deg altitude fiducial is not reading moving down, but all others were fine tonight. There are STILL moths in the lower enclosure! Night: ------ 00:40Z Imager mounted. Bias on the telescope: run 4883. 01:41Z imager ln2 dewar empty critical error showed up, we refilled it. 01:54Z Stripe 72 N, frame 23 lambda 153.6 run 4884, seeing acceptable, twilight ended. Skippy says we are ok. Seeing good on frame 30. At frame 52, lambda 158 the end of the ramp, and also the end of good seeing. 02:50Z Drift ended, frame 117, lambda 167.8 - no good data. (seeing was bad). Since the seeing was improving we moved the telescope back to where we started lambda ~155. 02:54Z Run 4885, begining of image data on 72 N. Unfortunaltely seeing is still bad. Due to bad seeing we ended the drift at frame 29 and switched to spectroscopy. 03:20Z Cart 7 plt 1911 mounted. fk5 star found with offset in DEC=-20". Focus loop failed (waiting for an image: Expected new guiderImage did not arrive.), then it happened again. Third time the focus loop worked. BAD SKY RESIDUALS on this plate. Plate not done. 05:52Z Cart 5 plt 1912 mounted, stars on go to field. We don't see a star in fiber 7 (fiber disabled). SCATTERED LIGHT and WHOOPING FIBER 255 in sos warnings on that plate. Plate done. Since seeing looks better now for a longer time (30 minutes), we are switching to imager. Well, as soon as we sent the telescope to the instChange position, dimm seeing went up. Hmmm, only thinking about changing to imager was enough to get the seeing bad. We were trying not to think at all but it was too late already. We stayed with spectroscopy. 06:37Z Cart 9 plt 1906 mounted, stars on go to field. Guider wasn't updating, we stop it and run the guider again. No guide stars in fiber 6,8,9 - fibers disabled. Warnings: Scattered light, Bad sky residuals, Whopping fiber # 246 plate done. Well, we are going to put imager on - we'll see. 08:32Z We did it! Imager mounted. Run 4886, Segue stripe 1300, S. Frame 20, mu 76 - in focus, good seeing, skippy hmmm - couldn't find the field. By frame 70 nuErr got over 8". nuErr rised rapidly and at frame 228 nuErr was already -17.2 and on frame 281 was -18.2, but since we've got only a few degrees to go (before twilight), we decided NOT to correct for nuError. At frame 295 mu=122.4 the end of twilight.
