APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Thursday October 21, 2004 (MJD 53300) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Swing: Pete Newman Night: Atsuko Nitta, Steph Snedden Visitors: Fritz de Jongh (SNe Team, FNAL) Sally Laurent-Muehleisen (UC Davis) ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Supernovae program. ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- Crummy weather. Never opened. Blah. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Swing shift =========== The science program tonight is supernovae imaging, so the spectrograph's focus positions were not checked or adjusted. However, both the spectrograph and the imager passed aliveness tests. The problem with crossing the 90deg altitude fiducial passing on excessive errors to lower fiducials remains. No other anomalies noted. Building not ventilated due to rain and strong winds. Night: ====== At sunset we were beset by clouds and rain. This was followed by high winds and high humidity. 06:09Z High winds gone, but nearby rain, thick clouds & high humidity keep us closed. 07:43Z Then the winds went too high again. Are we losing hope for the night? 10:35Z Still wet, windy and cloudy. Grumble, grumble, grumble. 11:00Z We give it up. I won't download Handel's Water Music again. The weather took it too seriously. endNight -doTpm finished. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4907 21:40Z 22:17Z 100 O 64.94 74.24 76 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n):n QA Procedures Done (y/n):n UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 28974, plate -9999 ------- 21:41 28974 0.0 bias ----- sequence 28975, plate -9999 ------- 23:52 28975 0.0 bias 00:17 28976 0.0 bias ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JL Stays: JL ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 21:31Z 49 32 17 235 (SW) 496 - cloudy 22:03Z 49 28 16 208 (SSW) 323 - " 22:35Z 49 26 26 193 (SSW) 403 - " 23:07Z 48 24 27 207 (SSW) 746 - " 23:39Z 44 31 22 241 (WSW) 1603 - " 00:20Z 45 29 25 196 (SSW) 766 - " 00:52Z 43 31 27 188 (S) 260 - " 01:24Z 42 33 34 201 (SSW) 287 - " 02:00Z 42 36 40 199 (SSW) 197 - " 02:33Z 42 38 39 200 (SSW) 226 - " 03:05Z 43 39 31 176 (S) 199 - " 03:37Z 42 36 34 192 (SSW) 244 - " 04:09Z 42 35 20 164 (SSE) 259 - " 04:41Z 42 33 29 183 (S) 204 - " 05:14Z 42 34 22 192 (SSW) 163 - " 05:46Z 41 35 22 179 (S) 234 - " 06:18Z 42 35 12 177 (S) 342 - " 06:50Z 41 37 20 204 (SSW) 516 - " 07:23Z 42 37 26 214 (SW) 810 - " 07:55Z 42 37 28 216 (SW) 665 - " 08:27Z 41 37 31 213 (SSW) 652 - " 08:59Z 40 38 12 226 (SW) 576 - " 09:31Z 40 38 30 226 (SW) 613 - " 10:04Z 40 37 30 225 (SW) 609 - " 10:36Z 40 37 26 214 (SW) 556 - " ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- Never ventilated.
