APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Sunday December 5, 2004 (MJD 53345) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Night: Pete Newman, Howard Brewington Support: Steve Bastien, Jean Yarger clearing snow all day. ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Science. ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- Poor conditions did not allow any observations. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- At sunset there was still ice on and hanging from the west side of the enclosure, in the eaves and on the roll-up door housing. We tried moving the building a foot back and forth to see if it would dislodge, but most of it stayed put. In addition, there is considerable high clouds over most of the sky and the forecast is for another snow storm and lower temperatures to arrive during the night. Since the ice on the enclosure could fall on the telescope if we opened to observe, and the threatened weather later could make conditions dangerous, we decided early on to declare the night lost to weather. We turned on the heater in the lower enclosure and left a two full dewars in the upper enclosure. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5028 21:54Z 22:38Z 100 O 112.79 123.68 81 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): y QA Procedures Done (y/n): y UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 29706, plate -9999 ------- 21:55 29706 0.0 bias ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JL cloudy 01 Stays: JL cloudy 02 ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 21:31Z 32 14 17 247 (WSW) 127 - 22:03Z 30 10 14 237 (WSW) 111 - 22:39Z 30 11 13 262 (W) 173 - 23:12Z 29 11 8 272 (W) 126 - 23:43Z 29 14 9 265 (W) 102 - 00:16Z 28 15 11 264 (W) 118 - 01:13Z 31 6 9 239 (WSW) 107 - 01:49Z 30 12 8 233 (SW) 110 - 02:21Z 31 16 14 229 (SW) 96 - 03:02Z 31 20 11 205 (SSW) 132 - 03:34Z 31 22 25 217 (SW) 175 - 04:06Z 31 23 20 209 (SSW) 158 - 04:39Z 30 26 20 187 (S) 191 - 05:11Z 30 26 22 206 (SSW) 255 - 05:44Z 30 27 14 193 (SSW) 238 - 06:20Z 30 27 18 197 (SSW) 243 - 06:52Z 31 25 23 202 (SSW) 178 - 07:25Z 32 26 28 208 (SSW) 197 - 07:57Z 32 26 29 197 (SSW) 204 - 08:29Z 32 28 28 198 (SSW) 262 - 09:01Z 31 28 26 202 (SSW) 264 - 09:34Z 31 29 34 197 (SSW) 235 - 10:06Z 32 29 34 198 (SSW) 257 - ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- We never opened.
