APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Thursday March 31, 2005 (MJD 53461) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Dan Long Jurek Krzesinski Mike Harvanek (swing) ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- We were kept closed until almost 10:00Z by high winds and humidity. In the last hour and a half of the night, we got good data on plate 1673, but didn't quite finish it. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- The spectro crate was rebooted. The servers also had to be restarted 3 times. The spectro collimation was adjusted due to the colder temperature tonight. Details are in the Problems section. Over the past few days we seem to be getting an unusual number of bad arcs due to an insufficient number of red lamp lines. Snow, high humidity and high wind delayed ventilation and opening. Nothing else to report. Night: ------ 01:20Z No ventilation due to high humidity and high wind. 06:45Z Doors Cracked, Fans On. Humidity lower, Wind still too high. 09:00Z Got a couple secondary dewar pressure warnings on sp1. A check at the enclosure showed nothing amiss. A secondary fill was forced and no further warnings were issued. 09:52Z Opening 09:56Z Cartridge 7 1673 10.6 15.8 10.7 10.5 Guide star glow visible in fiber 11 Seeing is dismal: somewhere between 2.5 and unmeasurable SoS is calling this plate 0. Was changed to the proper plate by changing plateId in the headers with apofix. 10:13Z First science 31628 Missed the S/N cutoff in r2 on 31628 Seeing improved to between 2.0 and 2.5 for the second exposure which just got above the cutoff. Third and fourth exposures also good. 11:50Z Closing 12:05Z endNight rejoiced ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5221 23:53Z 00:11Z 100 O -103.02 -98.45 44 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n):y QA Procedures Done (y/n):y UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 31613, plate -9999 ------- 23:52 31613 0.0 bias ----- sequence 31614, plate 2056 ------- 00:09 31614 10.0 flat collimation 00:12 31615 2.0 arc collimation 00:17 31616 2.1 arc collimation 00:20 31617 2.1 arc collimation 00:41 31618 0.0 bias spectro crate reboot Missing frame number is due to spectro crate reboot. 00:44 31620 0.0 bias spectro crate reboot 00:57 31621 10.0 flat collimation check 01:00 31622 2.0 arc collimation check 01:03 31623 2.1 arc collimation check 01:05 31624 2.1 arc collimation check ----- sequence 31625, plate 1673 ------- 10.6 15.8 10.7 10.5 01:11 31625 0.0 bias 10:08 31626 10.0 flat 10:11 31627 2.0 arc 10:35 31628 1200.2 target 10:58 31629 1200.2 target 11:21 31630 1200.1 target 11:44 31631 1200.2 target 11:47 31632 10.0 flat 11:49 31633 2.0 arc ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 10:06Z 7 1673 217.69 0.0056 69.36 -0.0004 49.83 0.0024 1.000080 ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JL8406 Stays: JL8407 ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 10:06Z 7 1673 1.00008 -790 648 170 218 69.4 -6.8 28 59 - 2.5 ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 23:27Z 30 11 21 317 (NW) 305 - Partly Cloudy 23:59Z 25 20 14 32 (NNE) 1287 - Light Snow 00:31Z 25 17 29 53 (NE) 259 - Flurries 01:02Z 23 17 15 69 (ENE) 211 - Flurries 01:32Z 22 18 17 74 (ENE) 129 - Partly Cloudy 02:04Z 21 18 34 68 (ENE) 78 - Mostly Clear 02:25Z 21 17 33 72 (ENE) 83 - Mostly Clear 02:59Z 21 18 19 81 (E) 65 - Partly Cloudy 03:31Z 21 16 30 65 (ENE) 65 - Mostly Clear 04:03Z 21 16 31 54 (NE) 108 - Mostly Clear 04:35Z 21 17 25 54 (NE) 127 - Mostly Clear 05:08Z 20 15 34 55 (NE) 115 - Mostly Clear 05:40Z 20 16 21 56 (NE) 74 - Clear 06:20Z 20 15 12 69 (ENE) 118 - Clear 06:52Z 21 11 31 62 (ENE) 95 - Clear 07:00:00Z 212 11 312 620 (EWE) 95e6 - Falling 07:25Z 22 8 30 44 (NE) 126 - Clear 08:01Z 22 8 28 55 (NE) 162 - Clear 08:33Z 22 7 27 43 (NE) 147 - Clear 09:05Z 21 7 29 56 (NE) 170 - Clear 09:38Z 21 7 23 72 (ENE) 154 - Clear 10:10Z 19 9 25 64 (ENE) 133 - Clear 10:40Z 19 9 25 56 (NE) 93 - Clear 11:10Z 19 9 27 56 (NE) 107 - Clear 11:42Z 20 7 24 55 (NE) 109 - Clear 12:15Z 20 5 19 59 (ENE) 135 - Clear ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 06:45Z Doors Cracked, Fans On 09:52Z Enclosure Open 11:55Z Enclosure Closed, Fans Off Stowed at 30 deg alt, cartridge 7 installed.
