APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Friday June 10, 2005 (MJD 53532) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Atsuko Kleinman Mike Harvanek Visitors: Jim Gunn Connie Rockosi ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- We finished 1 plate (2185). We imaged 1062 N from mu 305 to 312 (science mu's). We imaged 1140 N from mu 257 to 278 (science mu's). Does anyone know where the lens cap for the cloud camera is? ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- Collimation unchanged since the postCalib was in spec and we expect the temperature to be similar to last night. Craig has worked on Landru, trying to make it more robust and Atsuko-proof (she frooze Landru couple nights ago when endNight was running). No az fiducials were being read this afternoon. Cleaning the read head solved the problem. Night: ------ The moon is up so we begin with spectroscopy. Plate 2185 (cartridge 7): Segue faint. Guide stars on the gotoField. When combined with data from previous nights (53524, 53527, 53530), this plate was done in 5 exposures (6300 sec total). The 3rd and 4th exposures called for a postCal so we did a midCal after the 4th frame finished. SoS gave whopping fiber and max sky residual warnings. We finished plate 2185 near moonset and since it was photometric with good seeing we switched to imaging. Run 5413: 1140 N. Skippy reported a thetaF of -0.0302. Since we planned on imaging this strip for the remainder of the evening (4+ hours) we decided to make this correction and then start the scan over from the beginning. IGNORE. Run 5414: 1140 N. Everything good from the beginning but we had clouds just after starting this scan. We continued on, hoping the clouds would clear. The clouds did clear around frame 95. We were going to start this scan over from the beginning but a higher priority strip was now available. IGNORE. Run 5415: 1062 N. Everything good from the beginning (frame 9, mu 301.4). There was a seeing glitch near the end of this run. seeingRun reported the seeing as bad from frame 70, mu 310.5 to the end of the run (frame 101, mu 315.2) but the seeing was actually bad for only about 11 of these frames (frame 73, mu 311.0 to frame 84, mu 312.8). Since this area is too short to rescan, we called this whole run good. At worst, we have created another "hole" that needs filling. Run 5416: 1140 N. Everything good from the beginning (frame 9, mu 253.5). There was a seeing glitch at the end of this run as well. seeingRun reported the seeing as bad from frame 189, mu 280.5 to the end of the run (frame 213, mu 284.1). We will not call this portion good since it can easily be redone. The lens cap for the cloud camera has disappeared. endNight is still running. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5412 23:09Z 23:33Z 100 O -44.15 -38.05 55 ignore 5413 06:04Z 06:19Z 1140 N 67.34 71.23 40 ignore high thetaF 5414 06:22Z 07:15Z 1140 N 68.83 82.26 103 ignore clouds 5415 07:17Z 08:14Z 1062 N 116.23 130.43 109 science good 5416 08:17Z 10:22Z 1140 N 68.21 99.37 222 science good 5417 10:23Z 10:39Z 100 O 124.88 128.79 39 bias on-telescope ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- See the main log for details. ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5413 17 4 94 -6.300 0.097 3.900 0.103 0.03018 26 76 5414 21 4 107 -6.100 0.090 4.500 0.106 0.00261 20 77 5414 17 4 84 -6.100 0.092 4.500 0.098 0.00285 19 77 5414 74 4 101 -7.400 0.111 4.500 0.111 0.00225 31 77 5415 9 1 3 -14.500 0.040 4.200 0.020 -0.02796 135 35 5415 12 4 87 -7.500 0.406 4.400 0.426 -0.02594 136 35 5415 15 4 93 -7.500 0.140 4.500 0.151 -0.02600 136 35 5415 52 4 125 -6.900 0.347 4.800 0.240 -0.02451 138 33 5415 67 4 120 -7.300 0.162 5.000 0.141 -0.02373 139 33 5416 9 1 20 -5.500 0.104 3.300 0.094 -0.02386 309 68 5416 11 4 79 -5.800 0.113 3.200 0.123 -0.02316 309 68 5416 17 4 99 -6.000 0.131 3.100 0.101 -0.02286 310 68 5416 68 4 95 -5.900 0.094 2.500 0.123 -0.02007 310 70 5416 121 4 133 -6.500 0.111 1.300 0.139 -0.01707 307 73 5416 167 4 110 -7.700 0.116 0.200 0.115 -0.01188 301 75 5416 187 4 118 -8.100 0.662 -0.200 0.313 -0.01038 298 76 ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5414 33 1 77 157 35 0.537 0.089 -0.468 0.170 0.00157 5414 33 1 77 157 40 0.549 0.086 -0.341 0.150 0.00115 5414 33 1 77 157 47 0.595 0.072 -0.228 0.101 0.00077 5414 33 1 77 157 38 0.565 0.072 -0.280 0.120 0.00094 5414 33 1 77 157 50 0.563 0.052 -0.251 0.156 0.00085 5414 49 1 77 153 53 -0.264 0.144 -1.035 0.175 0.00348 5414 49 1 77 153 47 -0.353 0.158 -0.902 0.138 0.00303 5414 49 1 77 153 46 -0.317 0.191 -0.800 0.165 0.00269 5414 49 1 77 153 42 -0.405 0.157 -0.677 0.163 0.00228 5414 49 1 77 153 47 -0.459 0.159 -0.741 0.132 0.00249 5414 85 1 77 146 52 -0.004 0.157 -0.691 0.171 0.00232 5414 85 1 77 146 75 -0.062 0.153 -0.601 0.179 0.00202 5414 85 1 77 146 55 -0.040 0.211 -0.643 0.178 0.00216 5414 85 1 77 146 47 -0.055 0.203 -0.552 0.187 0.00186 5414 85 1 77 146 69 -0.127 0.230 -0.594 0.287 0.00200 5416 95 1 72 231 66 -0.648 0.125 5.446 0.177 -0.01831 5416 95 1 72 231 76 -0.716 0.154 5.554 0.168 -0.01867 5416 95 1 72 231 73 -0.725 0.152 5.614 0.172 -0.01887 5416 95 1 72 231 52 -0.742 0.204 5.490 0.232 -0.01846 5416 95 1 72 231 49 -0.957 0.184 5.505 0.228 -0.01851 5416 130 1 73 234 74 -0.558 0.203 4.768 0.131 -0.01603 5416 130 1 73 234 73 -0.711 0.203 4.650 0.160 -0.01563 5416 130 1 73 234 75 -0.695 0.161 4.580 0.168 -0.01540 5416 130 1 73 234 85 -0.849 0.160 4.502 0.119 -0.01513 5416 130 1 73 234 70 -0.965 0.141 4.614 0.128 -0.01551 5416 148 1 74 236 64 -0.288 0.185 3.712 0.175 -0.01248 5416 148 1 74 236 62 -0.277 0.151 3.680 0.157 -0.01237 5416 148 1 74 236 71 -0.347 0.184 3.514 0.175 -0.01182 5416 148 1 74 236 73 -0.540 0.158 3.501 0.173 -0.01177 5416 148 1 74 236 75 -0.751 0.197 3.468 0.121 -0.01166 ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): YES QA Procedures Done (y/n): YES UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 33050, plate -9999 ------- 23:13Z 33050 0.0 bias ----- sequence 33051, plate 2210 ------- 23:20Z 33051 10.0 flat collimation check 23:22Z 33052 2.0 arc collimation check ----- sequence 33053, plate -9999 ------- 23:53Z 33053 0.0 bias 01:14Z 33054 0.0 bias ----- sequence 33055, plate 2185 ------- 03:28 33055 10.0 flat 03:31 33056 2.0 arc 03:55 33057 1200.1 target 4.4 5.1 4.7 4.6 53524 04:18 33058 1200.1 target 13.0 12.4 13.7 10.5 53527 04:41 33059 1200.1 target 14.6 7.7 14.6 6.6 53530 05:03 33060 1200.1 target 46.5 41.0 49.1 31.8 tonight 05:07 33061 10.0 flat ------------------- 05:10 33062 2.0 arc 78.5 66.2 82.1 53.5 DONE 05:40 33063 1500.1 target ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 03:23Z 7 2185 108.24 -0.0018 52.73 0.0035 -98.58 -0.0206 1.000230 09:02Z imager 230.01 0.0000 70.86 0.0000 -15.38 0.0302 1.000000 ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JL8684 -
