We never opened. A problem with the imager LN2 fill system turned out to be a bad dewar. The problem dewar is marked as BAD. A problem with PT communications put the PT out of action. A cable is the primary suspect. Fritz will be up tomorrow (Sunday) to fix. Note that this problem prevented the GUI from coming up and so no PT log was sent out. Sled 2 was swapped out. Changes to Procedures were verified. DIMM was powered down. Saddle latch and spectro door indicator lamps were tested. All lamps funtioned properly. The sparsely plugged plate test was performed. We obtained 15 dithered flats and 2 arcs following them. We did the imager monthly checkout (bias and flats). ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- PT: We had a communication problem when initializing the telescope: Communication timeout with DFM telescope. I tried rebooting TCS, logging out Xyplex ports, rebooting pt1, none of these worked out. Steph and Fritz were called. Fritz ran some tests with switched port cables of terminal server, and re-connected serial cables of TCS. I think that it is a problem on the serial cable. Since we will not be able to go on the sky tonight, Fritz will replace this tomorrow. Because we could not start GUI, no PT log was sent out tonight. Imager: At 00:50Z, we got a critical error on LN2 dewar pressure: the secondary dewar pressure is zero. I went down to the enclosure and checked gauges, the pressure gauge on the 10 l dewars did read 0 while others were normal. When I came back to the control room, French called here to check if things are okay. What a timely call from French! Then, per French's instructions via phone, Mike, Jurek, and I together did some tests, and finally figured out that the 180 l dewar is bad. We replaced the dewar and marked the bad dewar as BAD. We filled the 10 l dewars and then the camera. CCD temps remained good the entire time. Everything now works okay, thanks to French. Spectro focus checked but no adjustment made. The focus is still set for about 15 C. Night: ------ Clouds, rain and high humidity all night. We never opened. We got email saying sled 2 was full. We swapped it out but it wouldn't mount. Fritz was called. He said something about needing root privileges and that he would take care of it. Sled 2 is now mounted. Thanks Fritz. Changes to SDSS Procedures v2_19 were verified and the white board was updated. DIMM shutdown was completed without problems. We checked the saddle latch indicators and the spectro door indicators on the instrument change panel as per French's instructions. All indicator lights functioned properly. We did the sparsely-plugged plate test again.
