APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Sunday November 25, 2007 (MJD 54430) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Elena Malanushenko (day) Audrey Simmons (observer) Shannon Watters (observer) Steph Snedden (support) ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- It's a shakedown man ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- We installed a new pointing model and had some software problems (see log). When we switched over to spectroscopy we were having a problem with the guider and it turns out there was a loose 9-pin connector on the guider electronics on the telescope. Clouds moved in and we weren't able to get any spectroscopy. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- I have had critical error alert that ad4 did not respond. I rebooted astro, photo1, and photo2 crates. It was ok after that. The new fiducial tables have been installed with version v1_67. We have some delay with Home & Relax mirrors as we had very slow respond and large errors. We need to repeat the home and move several times to get acceptable errors. We think that cold weather can produce the similar effects. Position the fibers and wavelength has been adjusted as part of monthly spectro checkout. The spectro collimation is set for -4C expected night temperature. All systems checked and working properly. PT flat lamp has been replaced by Norm. 22:30Z Started ventillation. Doors and louvers opened, fans on. /Data has 232G availble and /files 178G. We have enough room for night. Did not delete the data. Night: ----- 02:00Z Starting pointing model procedure. Had a problem with semMEI (another card on the mcp rack; I forgot to write down the exact watcher error) and had to reboot the mcp. The guider mac was working okay but when we tried "gcam dofind" the "gcam doread" portion would fail. Issued "telstop" and "telrun" commands and then "dofind" was working. GSOGTF, T=2.7C, relfoc=-100 We were getting all kinds of guider errors and the guider images were "blank" (values of 0) except a thin strip along the lower edge which had readings ~5000. Steph found a loose 9-pin connection on the spectro guider cam and resecuring that worked. 08:09Z precals Didn'te get any good exposures because of clouds. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7193 20:28Z 20:52Z 100 O 80.53 86.66 54 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): QA Procedures Done (y/n): UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 47538, plate -9999 ------- 21:43 47538 0.0 bias ----- sequence 47539, plate 2309 ------- 22:05 47539 10.0 flat 22:10 47540 2.0 arc 22:22 47541 10.0 flat 00:52 47542 10.0 flat 00:55 47543 2.0 arc 00:59 47544 3.0 arc 01:02 47545 3.0 arc 01:55 47546 0.0 bias ----- sequence 47547, plate -9999 ------- 01:59 47547 0.0 bias ----- sequence 47548, plate 1873 ------- 07:02 47548 0.0 bias ----- sequence 47549, plate -9999 ------- 07:17 47549 0.0 bias ----- sequence 47550, plate -9999 ------- 07:24 47550 0.0 bias ----- sequence 47551, plate 1873 ------- 08:12 47551 10.0 flat 08:14 47552 2.0 arc 09:53 47553 901.0 target ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 10:04Z 4 1873 162.27 0.0019 62.42 0.0022 -29.05 0.0190 1.000120 ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 04:36Z engcam 1.00000 0 -2542 225 48 35.9 -0.4 24 28 06:58Z 4 0 1.00000 0 -2661 225 121 90.0 3.3 18 68 10:04Z 4 1873 1.00012 -1185 66 -100 162 62.4 2.0 5 190 ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 19:49Z 26 16 23 26 (NNE) 628 - clear 20:23Z 30 11 9 44 (NE) 398 - 20:54Z 32 6 7 39 (NE) 374 - 21:27Z 30 13 10 34 (NE) 673 - 21:58Z 28 19 3 57 (ENE) 1068 - 22:31Z 30 11 20 33 (NNE) 671 - 23:03Z 31 6 19 31 (NNE) 567 - 23:36Z 32 3 15 15 (NNE) 464 - 00:08Z 33 0 23 25 (NNE) 391 - 00:40Z 30 5 15 36 (NE) 443 - 01:11Z 29 6 16 18 (NNE) 587 - 01:42Z 26 10 18 16 (NNE) 875 - 02:12Z 27 7 18 19 (NNE) 745 - 02:44Z 29 2 23 16 (NNE) 438 - 03:15Z 31 2 13 29 (NNE) 532 - partly cloudy 04:10Z 30 5 16 18 (NNE) 406 - clear 04:41Z 31 5 18 24 (NNE) 408 - 05:13Z 31 5 19 29 (NNE) 369 - 05:44Z 32 2 14 38 (NE) 506 - partly cloudy 06:15Z 35 0 19 56 (NE) 151 - 06:45Z 37 -1 17 69 (ENE) 143 - 07:18Z 37 0 14 72 (ENE) 103 - 07:50Z 35 0 0 231 (SW) 57 - 08:22Z 36 -1 8 91 (E) 76 - 08:54Z 37 -1 4 118 (ESE) 84 - 09:26Z 36 -2 2 152 (SSE) 125 - 09:58Z 36 -2 4 179 (S) 142 - cloudy 10:32Z 34 -2 2 179 (S) 208 - 11:03Z 33 -3 3 185 (S) 164 - 11:35Z 33 -1 6 177 (S) 190 - 12:07Z 34 -4 7 192 (SSW) 126 - ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 22:30Z Doors opened, fans and blowers on, louvers opened. 01:30Z Enclosure off. 11:55Z Enclosure on, doors closed, fans and blowers off, louvers closed.
