APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Wednesday June 4, 2008 (MJD 54622) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Dmitry Bizyaev Howard Brewington Audrey Simmons (swing) ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- We had clouds, wind, dust, and pollen, so we did imager cals. Completed: G1 Lin, G2 Lin and QE, and G3 QE Spectro dewar needs to be changed We had a server problem and lost all weather information; Fritz was contacted by Jack since his observer could not log on. See Problems Section. Watcher complained about the +vs voltage for CCD 60 at ~10:30Z ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- At ~23:45Z and again at ~00:00Z, the watcher complained about a non-responsive serial for sp1 under 'Micro'. I restarted the servers on both occasions, and issued a 'cc ping' for both spectrographs in which they both returned a 'ping'. After I cleared the watcher error a second time, it didnt come back. Note: I declared my first two biases bad in SOS because of an iack problem. I issued an 'iack' command in my sop session, then my third bias turned out to be OK. The spectro collimation is set for ~15C tonight. Note: In order to check my collimate values, I ran goSpecFoc a second time, but the b2 and r2 values never showed up on SOS (exposure numbers 53238 and 53239). I ran sos_redo for both exposures, as well as for the plate number, and verifed that the files were transfered to the SOS database. The values never showed up on the website. Delayed ventilating telescope due to high winds and high dust. Night: ----- 02:26Z Sunset 02:45Z Wind and dust had not improved, so we setup for imager cals. 03:46 Twilight end 02:53Z run 7544, MSP bias fr. 1 == run 7544 == --- 02:57Z QE g 2 ; fr. 2 - 42 first frame: idR-7544-g2-2.fit last frame: idR-7544-g2-42.fit --- 05:27Z Linearity g 2 ; fr. 43 - 61 first frame: idR-7544-g2-43.fit last frame: idR-7544-g2-61.fit --- 06:41Z Linearity g 1 ; fr. 62 - 80 first frame: idR-7544-g1-62.fit last frame: idR-7544-g1-80.fit Went smooth, but all frames look like frequent vertical stripes, ~1 pixel spaced. When we tried to ssh to galileo, we go the following: [hjbrew@sdsshost2 hjbrew]$ ssh hjbrew@galileo 27258: ssh: connect to host galileo port 22: No route to host [hjbrew@sdsshost2 hjbrew]$ And, there was no way to connect to xmail.apo.nmsu.edu either. Jack called Fritz since he was opened at the time. Fritz is working on the problem.
