DIMM reported good seeing at about 0.8-1.3", but imager report 1.4-2.0". Finished stripe 80 N from lambda 130 to -175 (included ramps). So the stripe is done. Imaging 71 N from lambda 174 to -153 (included ramps). Added signal on segue plate 3135. Took all exposures for 3044B. But numbers of goodfiber are in red. The problem seems in MapM files. Problem: 1) MapM files for plate 3044 have incorrectly cartridge numbers. More interestingly, the plate was mapped twince today, and got different cartridge numbers, 9 (correct) and 3. 2) Flat lamp above counterweight #3 was burn out and replaced. 3) numbers of goodfibers for flats of plate 3044A and 3044B are red, at 45-51. see log for unknown reason. As a test, we loaded cartridge with the first version MapM file (see 1) above), took postcalib, they are good. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ========== All systems are checked and they work properly. Spectro collimation is adjusted for 6C. 23:34 ventilation Cart 4 is mounted. Night: ========== 00:05Z mounted the imager, and prepared for in enclosure on-telescope bias. 00:38Z started on-telescope bias, Run 7753. 00:55Z Open enclosure. Filling to spectrographs dewars just before open took 52 lb LN2. This is much more than what we saw before full sensor was replaced. 01:25Z ScanStrip 80 N at 127.5. 01:34Z goDrift, 80 N, run 7754. Skippy happy from the beginning. Focus good at fram 15. Ramp started at lambda=130, fram 16. Science started at lambda 132, frame 30. From frame 16 to 150, seeing was good, between 1.2 to 1.5. Seeing went wrose, up to 1.7" at frame 160 or so. Since then, seeing was between 1.7 and 2.0. 05:16Z endDrift at lambda -175 05:23Z goDrift, 79 S, run 7755. Skippy was happy, focus good from the beginning. Ramp started at lambda=148, frame 16. Seeing was over 2.0" while DIMM reported a seeing of 1.1". Low alt could be part of reason for bad seeing. So we decided to abort this scan and try later another part of this strip. However, seeing was still over 2.0". So we decided to switch to spectro. 05:50Z Dismounted imager and mounted cart 6, plate 3135 (segue). The plate has been observed in mjd 54763. The seeing from guider was about 1.6". much better than that reported from imager before we switching. SOGTF. 06:14Z precalib. 06:22Z 2X25 min exposure. accumilated S/N^2 of 15.6, 8.9, 19.5, and 8.5 on b1, r1, b2, r2. During these two exposures, DIMM reported a seeing of 1.0", spectro guider reported 1.3". So we decided to switch back to imaging. 07:18Z postcalib. 07:25Z switch to imager. We concerned about seeing, so chosed 71 N that has higher alt than other stripes at this time. 07:43Z, goDrift, run 7757 (stripe 71 N). 07:52Z, started ramped at lambda 174, frame 20. Seeing at 2.0". 07:57Z, started science at lambda of 176, frame 32. Seeing was 1.8". Seeing was bad (over 2.0") from 49 to 58 (lambda from -180 to -179.5 degree). During rest of the scan, seeing was between 1.4" to 1.9". 09:54Z ended science, lambda=-155, frame 226. 20:02Z ended ramp, lambda=-153, frame 239. 10:05Z switch to spectro due to moon rising. When loaded cartridge, get an error "user supplied cartridge # 9 does not equal mapped cartridge # 3". We used Kaike's script to change cartridgeId in MapM files to #9. Then loaded cartridge worked fine, and found stars on goto field. Kaike checked MapM files on plate-mapper and found that the plate was mapped twince today. In the first mapping got correct cartridge number, 9, but the second mapping got cartridge #3 for unknown reason. 10:35Z, precalib. 10:40Z, 5x20 sec exposures. 10:50Z, noticed number of goodfiber are in red, then physical check confirmed one flat lamp (above counterweight #3) was burn out. Change the lamp, and previous exposures maybe useless. 40 min was lost due to the problem although change lamp itself only cost 5 minutues. 11:11Z precalib. The Flat still give red numbers for goodfiber. So we swtich to B field and check what flat exposure will do. However, pull out flat image and checked with saoDisplay, they looked normal. And All fibers can be seen. Compared these flat with good ones of plate 3135. They look similar each other. 11:25Z plate 3044B. 11:27Z precalib. Frame 55864-65. 11:33Z 5X20s exposures, frame 55866-870. 11:47Z 5x30s exposures. Frame 55871-875. 12:05Z postcalib. 55876-877 12:11Z Because the first version of MapM files have correct cartridge numbers, for a test, we loaded the first version MapM file of Plate 3044B, plPlugMapM-3044-54764-01B.par, and take a postcalib, see if the number of goodfiber are in red. Frames are 55878-79. They are good.
