We got some signal on pre_Marvels plate 3094. New guider dark has been obtained for SD. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- afternoon: ---------- Fiducial tables: Data for the current version V1_78 (in using) fiducial table was taken at T=-1.2, which is reasonable temperature for the winter season. New tabes are comariable with the current ones. So no new fiducial tables are installed (New fiducial tables will require new pointing model). Home/Relax mirrors: Homed and relaxed mirrors. During the process, all position errors for primary are within +/- 50 steps. But it took three home processes to get position error for A down to 150 steps. Whole process went smoothly. However, after the process the mirror Migs numbers for B actuator of the primary is, 0.040, further off from the nominal value (0.054). Migs value from last night was 0.049. Then three relax processes (without home) were done), but no imrpovement was seen. Since the value is still within spect, I leave it as it is, if it stay stable and we don't have any problem to find stars, I will reset the nominal values. Spectro focus was adjust -2000 steps on both spectrographs. Now it is set for about 3 C. Connie and Jim are using ad1, no image bias was taken. There are enough disk space (51G) for tonight, we will remove some old data tomorrow. The fibers and spectra positions are okay, I will adjust them a little bit tomorrow. 23:30Z started ventilation. night: ------ Weather forecast for this night was not very promising but it was ok to open in the evening. 00:10Z enclosure is off Marvels team preferred to do possible science exposures instead of SD tests. Cart 2 plate 3094, pre-Marvels, single field plate. Used fk5 and cleared offsets to find the guider stars. T~2.2C and foc~200. Seeing ~2.5-3.0", efficiency ~ 30-40%. 01:12 pre-calibration While we were preparing for observations, local clouds began to form nearby. 01:29Z science 3:20 sec exposures 1:30 sec exposures The last exposure was bad with the efficiency ~5-10% because of clouds. We stopped the observations of this plate because of clouds in the field. This plate can be done and Marvels team will check the result in several days. Cart 8 plate 3076, field A. 01:59Z gotoField Found FK5 and then found the guider stars, but when we started guider it moved the stars away from the field. Found FK5 again, but could not see guider stars because of clouds. Stopped. 02:30 The clouds were heavy, we could not observe. Wait. 02:59Z enclosure was on, but we still kept the ventilation. 03:30Z Clouds were still heavy and wind was ~35 mph. Dust was going up to 2.5K-3.0 and humidity was up to ~60%, so we stopped the ventilation.
