Never had a chance to open. Took dithered flats on spectrographs; tested that both sets of spectrograph collimator actuators move for a given exposure (they did), and that the collimator mirror actuators returned to start values at the end (they did). Tested that collimator mirrors return to start values if a dithered flat sequence is aborted (they did). Continued taking flat and arc data with different focus and exposure time values, but there is still more to do. The BOSS ICC had to be restarted from stageManager three times total during the night. Paul continued to work on the guider code, although what he can do is limited until we go back on sky. The spectro dewar will need to be replaced during the day. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: Afternoon checkout was normal with two exceptions. 1) The 45 degree alt fiducial is still not being read. 2) The symbolic links that Jon had set to sdssfiles1 were reset back to the local machine (sdsshost2) and the ftp server was not running, so the afternoon biases were not transferred off the pool disk. The mirrors returned to: motorPosition=-5341,-5747,-5753,20504,19701,20240 This is very close to the original positions and within the normal uncertainties we have seen from the actuators. Note that exposure 10607 does not exist - that is the aborted exposure. The flat field lamps did turn off after the exposure aborted. ======================================= 07:00Z - Continued the flat and arc sequences that were started last night at different out-of-focus positions. 08:48Z - BOSS ICC had to be restarted from the stageManager again. Twice. The symptom was that no boss commands were recognized. Both times it seemed to be associated with a boss "sp2cam raw" command, but that could be coincidental (?) Craig was monitoring at the time, and will try to see if he can find the source of the problem tomorrow.
