A productive BOSS science night. We observed the following plates and declared them DONE: Cartridge 10, plate 4183 (had partial signal from yesterday) Cartridge 11, plate 4084 Cartridge 17, plate 4203 Cartridge 14, plate 4212 Cartridge 12, plate 4220 (had partial signal from yesterday) Cartridge 16, plate 4232 We observed the following that is not yet done: Cartridge 13, plate 4241 The good news: 1) We got regular weather updates in the night log tonight :-) 2) S/N is getting propagated to the platedb web page. :-) 3) "overide complete" is now "force complete" in platedb web page. Thanks Adrian. 4) The guider did not have to be restarted tonight after the initial startup in the afternoon. 5) No phaseBoot messages, Craig & Connie! 6) No altitude slips. The bad news: 1) We had a short delay getting on sky because of gcamera work. Later, Paul installed a new guider version. When we tried to guide on the first field of the night, the guider failed with this message: 02:01:24 .guider 0 guider w text="Unexpected exception Header missing END card. in guider master thread". We saw no images on our guider displays. We then switched back to the stable version of the guider and still did not see any guider images. At this point we suspected the gcamera work was causing the problem and called Craig. He reverted to the version we ran last night that still has the bug that can cause the guider to stop. Fifteen minutes lost to the problem. We re-reverted to Paul's new guider version v1_1_2. 02:41Z Started science. Cartridge 10, plate 4183 - BOSS ------------------------------- 02:43Z As soon as science started, the focus drifted way off. We were running the test version of the guider, but the problem may not have been in the code, but just an out of focus star in one fiber. Viktor forced the focus back, and it seemed stable after that. He also disabled fiber 13, which was a little out of focus. GSOGTF. Seeing: 1.5" FWHM N.B. - The platedb web interface shows the wrong accumulated (S/N)^2 for this plate.
