Apparently due to flat field petal switch not being depressed all the way. 1 803: Done ------ fk5 star near the edge of the fiber. smear testing done in twilight with Russell via phone. Of course everything behaved perfectly for the three attempts prior to continuing on with science. Got enough signal when combined with yesterday to declare this Annis plate done. 0315z imminent cloud threat from the NW, so despite current clear skies and good seeing, we elect to continue with spectroscopy. 3 861: Done ------ No guide stars fibers 5, 6, 7, 9 ( all in the NW 1/2 of the plate just like plate 866 last night ). They really aren't there. It isn't a pointing or scale issue. Could there be something wrong with all chunk 33 plates? Resulted in extended setup time to baby the guider into centering. S/N plots looked reasonable so we kept going on the plate. 0445z earlier cloud threat dissipated and drifted east staying north of us. Given the excellent conditions on the site we're switching to imaging in hopes that things stay that way. Imaging ------- 2986: 13 S -63 to -18 science range ------------------------------------- science starting at frame 24, lambda -63 seeing spikes around 108, 130, Cirrus whisps on horizon between frames 50 and 60 but never where we were looking. 2987: 34 N -20 to -4 science range ------------------------------------- science from frame 22, lambda -20 0955z clouds appear about frame 128, lambda -4 We end the run and take a bias run ( 2988 ) waiting for the cirrus band to pass. 1019z resumed 34 N under clear skies 2989: 34 N -4 to 11 science range ------------------------------------- science from frame 18, lambda -4 1120z Possible cloud ( very faint in cloud cam ) passing near our position between frames 103 and 108. 1130z Definite cloud starting frame 121. We decide to take donuts. 121 in focus 128 -300 132 +300 1145z not enough time left to switch to spectroscopy, and not enough time to complete another science run even if the clouds leave, and we
