APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Saturday November 9, 2002 (MJD 52588) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Scot Kleinman Jurek Krzesinski ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- Covered by clouds all the night. Cloud camera images - still not good, see the note in the log. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon checkout ok. 00:45Z Cart 6 plt 675 mounted. guiderFlat recealed crud on fibers 2,3, and 8 (2 being the worst). 01:20Z The flatfield and arc files were not transfered, there was only a bias frame on the host. We restarted teamster, and that solved the the problem. Clouds and high wind. 02:30Z We closed the enclosure and waiting. 09:26Z We are completely covered with clouds, but the cloud camera shows a sigma at the level of 10-14, almost photometric! We find we have to to go outside to tell if what we see on the screen is realy in the sky or not. We can only use the cloud camera image to tell if it's photometric, or not photometric- we don't get reliable information on how thick the clouds are, or how many clouds there are. What we see are often ghost clouds, which have gone ~15 minutes ago. We clearly need another flat-field approach. See this night cloud camera images for yourself (around this time). endNight finished ok. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3468 23:12Z 23:36Z 100 O 106.24 112.23 54 ignore 3469 06:24Z 06:27Z 100 O -145.41 -144.62 19 ignore 3470 06:29Z 06:32Z 100 O -144.27 -143.41 20 ignore 3471 06:34Z 06:35Z 100 O -143.08 -142.64 17 ignore 3472 06:36Z 06:40Z 100 O -142.36 -64.00 17 ignore 3473 06:41Z 06:44Z 100 O -141.16 -140.48 18 ignore 3474 06:45Z 06:52Z 100 O -140.15 -138.54 24 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 23:05 16883 0.0 bias ----- sequence 16884, plate -9999 ------- 23:12 16884 0.0 bias 23:34 16885 0.0 bias ----- sequence 16886, plate 675 ------- 01:07 16886 10.0 flat 01:10 16887 2.0 arc 01:40 16888 1500.1 target ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 01:13Z 6 675 33.63 0.0030 52.29 -0.0010 207.66 -0.0115 1.000000 ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JLnone Stays: JLnone ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 01:18Z 6 675 1.00000 0 1222 50 32 52.9 4.8 23 267 ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 23:06Z 45 31 22 275 (W) 1531 - 23:36Z 44 30 28 272 (W) 2064 - 23:47Z 43 30 23 254 (WSW) 2083 - 00:17Z 41 30 14 274 (W) 2250 - 00:47Z 40 30 20 265 (W) 2202 - 01:18Z 40 30 25 270 (W) 1050 - 01:48Z 40 31 23 259 (W) 1150 - 02:20Z 40 31 25 272 (W) 415 - 02:51Z 39 31 16 266 (W) 266 - 03:21Z 39 31 13 270 (W) 187 - 03:52Z 39 30 18 267 (W) 168 - 04:23Z 39 30 25 266 (W) 134 - 04:54Z 39 31 27 274 (W) 169 - 05:24Z 39 32 25 287 (WNW) 176 - 05:54Z 39 31 18 263 (W) 263 - 06:25Z 39 32 29 267 (W) 163 - 06:55Z 39 32 26 259 (W) 255 - 07:27Z 39 33 19 258 (WSW) 916 - 07:58Z 39 33 26 259 (W) 535 - 08:29Z 39 33 29 257 (WSW) 484 - 09:00Z 38 34 26 264 (W) 489 - 09:32Z 38 34 28 268 (W) 460 - 10:03Z 37 35 34 261 (W) 568 - 10:34Z 37 35 23 267 (W) 398 - 11:05Z 36 35 18 264 (W) 535 - 11:36Z 36 35 19 263 (W) 872 - ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 00:30Z Telescope opened, dewars refilled, cart mounted. 02:30Z We moved the enclosure on the telescope, doors open. ---=== SOFTWARE USED ===--- IOP/SOP: v3_91_0 Watcher: v2_19_0 MCP: v5_13_5 TPM: tpm_v2_17_0 AstroDa: v14_47 TCC: 2.6.5 sdssProcedures: v1_54 SoS: v4_9_10 hoggPT: v1_5_8 plate-mapper: v4_1_0 ---=== MIRROR NUMBERS ===--- PRIMARY: -------- Scale: 1.000000 MIGS TONIGHT NOMINAL Axial A 0.0790 0.0790 Axial B 0.7980 0.7970 Axial C 0.8220 0.8240 Trans D -9.0770 -9.1130 Lateral E 1.8750 1.8870 Lateral F 1.4180 1.4300 GALILS Commanded: 5400. -3700. 900. -200. 31550. 30650.
