APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Saturday April 19, 2003 (MJD 52749) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- swing Pete Newman night Atsuko Nitta Kleinman Jurek Krzesinski Connie Rockosi Gajus Miknaitis ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Time-domain imaging tests as priority over shakedown. ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- Time Domain Imaging all night long under photometric and mainly moony condition. We did 4 seperate scans and encountered ptvme problem twice (at the beginning of the 2nd and 4th scan). Jim, we will try DIMM after shake and when we are doing routine imaging since it is hectic otherwise. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Swing shift notes: - DA tape drives cleaned - Spectro focus not checked (imager mounted) - Running current IOP (v3_113_1) - Mirror numbers are good. The problem looks the same as at the previous time, oh, and we lost our iop window as well. Run 3876: Quick bias to check that we are ready to resume science. init4Bin 2 2 18000 Run 3877: Science --- we were not sure if the scan was binned (goDrift did not ask about changed linestarts, probably because we issued init4Bin 2 2 18000 command from the iop window, where startDa -tcc wasn't running). So we stopped the drift and reissued the binning command in the proper window. Run 3878: Science, 209 -12 S scan. goDrift failed (however it asked about differences in linestarts setups): 2003-04-20 09:53:21Z: beginData has failed: {id1 {}} {id2 {}} {id3 {}} {id4 {}} {id5 {}} {id6 {}} {ad1 {}} {ad2 {couldn't read file "/p/astrobase/fitsHeaders.tcl"}} {ad3 {}} {ad4 {}} So, we tried again, and that worked: im> scanEcliptic 209.760975 -12.145286 S track 209.7609750,-12.1452860 FK5 /rotty=obj /rota=0 /rotwrap=MID /azwrap=MID /ScanVelocity=(0.0114697,-0.0042224) /Keep=(Boresight) offset boresight 0.104833,0.,0.,0. /PAbsolute /Wait /Computed 09:55Z im> goDrift Run 3879, in focus since the beginning. 3.5m terlescope seeing 1.2". See PROBLEM section for the sample error messages: 10:58Z We endDrifted at Ra=260 and DEC=-23, the last frame (160) background level=40000. Since it's also a beginning of the twilight we ended the drift. That's it for tonight. 1x1 binning restored, and tested by taking a short bias.
