APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Tuesday January 13, 2004 (MJD 53018) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- swing: Steph Snedden night: Dan Long Jurek Krzesinski ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- Not a good night - two exposures on one plate were good, the rest didn't make it. Clouds and moon won this time. A good news is that gGuider worked wery well tonight even on faint stars! The only difference between yesterday and today was, that today we started gGuide then we issuied loadC command, while yesterady we loadC then started the gGuide. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- swing: ------ Afternoon checkout went without problems. Spectrograph focus checked. Details after the problem section. Cloudy night tapes relabeled. Night: ------ 00:20Z Cart 2, plt 1135 mounted. There is some signal on that plate already. Because it's too bright at the moment, we used fk5 star to find the guide stars. gGuider is doing fine at the moment :). Plate expired before we could collect enough signal on it - not done. 02:33Z Cart 1 plt 1561 mounted. Fk5 used. Clouds became too thick. The first exposure didn't make above 2 in S/N. Clouds got too thick (we didn't get anything useful on this plate). 03:58Z Tlescope closed (doors open and fans on). 07:40Z Telescope reopened. Cart 8 plt 1276 mounted. Guide stars found after clearing offsets. Inspite of our efforts, we couldn't get s/n above two. - no exposure was good. 10:39Z Thicker clouds arrived -we won't get anything through them. We closed the telescope again. Finaly we gave up and run endNight. We were using gGuide and tonight it was doing VERY well even when stars were barely visible. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4364 22:12Z 22:26Z 100 O 154.91 158.51 38 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): yes QA Procedures Done (y/n): yes UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 24635, plate 1276 ------- 22:29 24635 10.0 flat 22:31 24636 2.0 arc 22:40 24637 2.1 arc 22:42 24638 2.1 arc 22:51 24639 10.0 flat 22:53 24640 2.0 arc 23:02 24641 2.0 arc 23:12 24642 2.1 arc 23:15 24643 2.1 arc ----- sequence 24644, plate 1135 ------- 23:41 24644 0.0 bias ----- sequence 24645, plate -9999 ------- 00:03 24645 0.0 bias ----- sequence 24646, plate 1135 ------- 01:20 24646 10.0 flat 01:23 24647 2.0 arc 01:57 24648 1500.1 target good 02:25 24649 1500.1 target good ----- sequence 24650, plate 1561 ------- 02:41 24650 10.0 flat 02:44 24651 2.0 arc 03:12 24652 1500.1 target ----- sequence 24653, plate 1276 ------- 07:47 24653 10.0 flat 07:49 24654 2.0 arc 08:12 24655 1200.1 target 08:35 24656 1200.1 target 08:58 24657 1200.1 target 09:21 24658 1200.1 target 09:44 24659 1200.1 target 10:07 24660 1200.1 target 10:30 24661 1200.1 target ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 01:11Z 2 1135 -27.96 0.0024 53.91 0.0018 156.73 0.0139 0.999950 02:39Z 1 1561 -9.13 0.0057 56.87 0.0008 172.27 -0.0053 0.999970 07:45Z 8 1276 111.94 -0.0044 71.07 0.0000 -81.15 -0.0115 1.000020 ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JL7154 Stays: JL7155 ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 01:11Z 2 1135 0.99995 494 1738 160 -28 53.9 2.3 3 33 gdr 1.6 02:39Z 1 1561 0.99997 296 1566 160 -9 56.9 2.2 3 304 -/- 1.4 07:45Z 8 1276 1.00002 -198 1126 160 112 71.1 3.1 2 258 -/- 1.4 ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 22:32Z 38 20 5 275 (W) 295 - 23:03Z 38 20 6 299 (WNW) 412 - 23:34Z 39 21 6 285 (WNW) 360 - 00:06Z 35 19 4 308 (NW) 383 - 00:42Z 34 19 10 38 (NE) 0 - 01:12Z 35 18 2 53 (NE) 0 - 01:44Z 36 17 1 352 (NNW) 318 - 02:15Z 35 13 1 347 (NNW) 242 - 02:47Z 35 16 2 332 (NNW) 323 - 03:19Z 34 16 2 359 (NNW) 300 - 03:53Z 35 12 5 27 (NNE) 165 - 04:24Z 35 14 0 357 (NNW) 213 - 04:56Z 34 15 3 36 (NE) 298 - 05:29Z 35 19 1 351 (NNW) 282 - 06:01Z 36 16 0 209 (SSW) 217 - 06:33Z 36 14 1 106 (ESE) 181 - 07:05Z 36 7 0 300 (WNW) 116 - 07:37Z 37 0 4 261 (W) 23 - 08:10Z 37 0 2 255 (WSW) 20 - 08:40Z 36 3 1 250 (WSW) 56 - 09:10Z 36 5 0 216 (SW) 53 - 09:42Z 36 4 0 194 (SSW) 52 - 10:15Z 36 1 0 226 (SW) 33 - 10:47Z 37 -3 0 210 (SSW) 15 - 11:20Z 36 2 0 205 (SSW) 39 - ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 23:15Z Doors open, fans on. 00:20Z Telescope opened, dewars refilled. 03:58Z Telescope closed, but doors were left open and fans on. 07:40Z Telescope reopened. 10:53Z Telescope closed again, hoses hooked up. ---=== SOFTWARE USED ===--- IOP/SOP: v3_125_1 Watcher: v2_26_0 MCP: v5_24_0 TPM: tpm_v2_36_0 AstroDa: v14_47 TCC: TCC 2.7.1 July 22 2003 sdssProcedures: v1_82 SoS: v4_10_7 hoggPT: v1_6_9 plate-mapper: v4_3_1 ---=== MIRROR NUMBERS ===--- PRIMARY: -------- Scale: 1.000000 MIGS TONIGHT NOMINAL Axial A 0.5520 0.5420 Axial B 0.6350 0.6390 Axial C 1.0850 1.0900 Trans D -8.4620 -8.4610 Lateral E 10.8712 10.8966 Lateral F 10.8458 10.8712 GALILS Commanded: 4600. -2850. 850. -9250. 18400. 17850.
