Nicaraguan coffee We got 24S from start to about lambda=54 with possible non-photometricity between about lambda=-45 to lambda=-35. The DIMM computer rebooted during the night. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Swing: Spectro focus was not checked because the imager was mounted. While checking out the 2.5m, an alt slip occurred. I reset the slip detector and noticed an error to large to correct in alt when I did a slew. After forcing an alt fiducial with MCP, however, I could not move the 2.5m via the TCC although there were no errors displayed in the TCC. Craig and Scot suggested that I reboot the MCP, which solved the problem. Howard loaded tapes on Omaha from last night. (Sorry the night crew forgot earlier - something to do with a LONG endNight process, undoubtedly: night crew.) Night: Slightly cirrus at sunset, but all gone by twilight. We started with 24S, imaging, of course. Run 4574 -- bias on the scope in twilight. -------- Right after endDrift, I got the following message for the afternoon bias that was taken on the scope in the dark (i.e. good bias for data reduction). makeRunLog failed for run 4573. I have the following diagnostics plus check the murmur log and your screen history: error writing "stderr": I/O error im> tb Can't retrieve schema for IDCOMMENT while executing "schemaGetFromType IDCOMMENT" im> We created a runlog by hand and it completed successfully. Note that the runlog for 4574 (bias in twilight) completed successfully. Run 4575 24 S --------------- 02:37Z Started the drift. frame 19 skippy runs and says we are in spec for rotator and nuErr. frame 30 lambda=-65.6 in-focus. ramp start. But I have 8 more min before twilight is over. I will end this drift and restart. :( Run 4576 24 S ------------- 02:57Z Start the drift. In focus and seeing good from the beginning. frame 09 skippy reports telescope position is in spec. frame 13 lambda=-65.6 ramp start frame 30 lambda=-63 science start. We note that the cloud camera says the std. dev is hovering around 6. There seems to be no clouds, but some structure that can be seen when using the cloud camera movie. hoggPT is declaring the sky photometric so far. BTW, the little crosses indicating where the SDSS and 3.5m telescopes are pointing are back on the cloud camera images. Thank you Bill. 04:05Z Gourmet dinner is ready. 04:23Z frame 152 Cloud camera hits std dev=8.0 for one frame due to the structure in the sky. The std dev. is now hovering around 7.0. :( 04:46Z frame 191 Cloud camera hits std.dev over 8.0 again for one frame. 04:48Z frame 195 Cloud camera 8.97. The range where the cloud camera was between ~6 and 8 is ~frames 150 to 220 corresponding to lambdas -45 to -35. We will consider it all done, though, until further notice. Around 05:00Z The cloud camera stddev. is down to hovering around 6.0 again. High cloud camera reading at 06:30Z is not due to clouds. (Probably a worm on the mirror, then an Observer checking out the problem.) Happened again (minus the Observer part) at around 07:00Z. At about lambda=37, SoK lost the ability to show us the seeing - we reached the extent of its lambda range with such a long scan. 10:00Z By frame 705, skippy reported a nuErr of -10.2" 11:07Z:
