APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Friday May 7, 2004 (MJD 53133) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Atsuko Nitta Howard Brewington Mike Harvanek (swing) ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Shakedown. ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- TPM v2_42_0 Piezo display exists and data are being archived. There were two period of time when piezo A was pegged at -1676 for about 30min and thenfor another 15 min while the other two channels were not pegged. This happened while we were closed and the telescope in stow. The piezo A went up to -600 or so and stayed there. Are we suppose to be concerned at this? We only finished checking axis position of the engCam before the clouds became too thick to observe. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- The collimation check was not done this afternoon because the engineering camera was mounted. We delayed opening because of the threatening clouds around us. TPM v2_42_0 ------------ The new piezo display exists. The piezo info are archived since we can plot them using the www plotting interface. around9:28Z to 10:00Z: tpm_M2GAL_PZA was pegged at -1676. We were not observing at the time (the telescope was at stow inside the enclosure). Around 10:00Z: the value went up to -600 for few minuts and then went back to -1676. Around 10:15Z tpm_M2GA_PZA went up to ~-600 again. It never went back to -1676. Other piezo channels were not pegged at -1676. Are we suppose to be concerned? 02:45Z Opened. 04:26Z We confirmed the axis position (which was good) and then clouds came over us and we could not see our fk5 stars. 04:30Z We put the enclosure on while we wait for the clouds to clear. endNight finished successfully. 09:45Z We are still clouded and it does not look like it is going to improve before twilight. We give up. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4617 23:54Z 00:09Z 100 O -66.07 -62.30 39 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): QA Procedures Done (y/n): UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 26561, plate -9999 ------- 23:43 26561 0.0 bias 02:10 26563 0.0 bias ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JL Stays: JL ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 02:15Z engcam 1.00000 0 -2743 0 121 29.8 13.1 10 106 ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 23:15Z 61 18 6 293 (WNW) 1187 - 23:50Z 64 18 14 234 (SW) 1085 - 02:04Z 56 28 10 113 (ESE) 918 - 02:35Z 55 28 12 112 (ESE) 951 - 03:07Z 55 26 11 84 (E) 1016 - 03:39Z 54 27 9 89 (E) 1112 - 04:11Z 54 26 7 94 (E) 1035 - 04:44Z 55 25 6 109 (ESE) 1151 - 05:16Z 56 24 11 138 (SE) 1245 - 05:48Z 56 24 3 118 (ESE) 1330 - 06:20Z 56 23 1 161 (SSE) 1346 - 06:52Z 56 22 1 191 (S) 1388 - 07:24Z 57 22 9 200 (SSW) 1260 - 07:57Z 56 23 8 181 (S) 1344 - 08:29Z 54 24 10 154 (SSE) 1244 - 09:01Z 53 25 7 144 (SE) 1165 - 09:33Z 54 24 9 163 (SSE) 1276 - ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 02:45Z Open! 04:30Z Enclosure on telescope due to threatening clouds. 09:45Z Doors closed.
