Obtained two science exposures on Plate 1569 to finish it with more than adequate S/N. Quiet (and short!) night. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon ============= photo1 drives (id1,id2,id3) got: poolNRGangTrim (232: 2004-06-11 22:47:35Z) when doing initNight. Since this error message is safe to ignore (see folklore DA category for more info), I did not do anything to clear the message. Collimation check was carried out at the temp. below and required no adjustments: tpm_TM_PMSSAvg 12.6693 tpm_TM_TelairAvg.VALA 13.295 everything checked out fine. We put the imager on before sunset as the weather looked promising. Night ============== 02:22Z Rolled back the enclosure. Conditions at sunset were clear over almost the whole sky with the exception of the far northwest, light winds, and low humidity. 03:15Z Began scan of stripe 21 N, starting lambda=10. Run 4670: First images showed OOF donuts that were clearly top-heavy, before starting focusLoop. skippy happy by frame 25. The rotator offset suggested by skippy was performed at frame 49; resulting residual was 0.007deg. First science frame 79, lambda=21; seeing is about 1.1 arcsec FWHM. Seeing was good (~1.2 arcsec) and stable throughout. Ended the drift at 06:55Z at frame 378. 07:00Z Began scan of stripe 23 N, starting lambda=39. Run 4671: Began ramp at frame 10; focus converged at frame 14. skippy happy by frame 16. First science frame 38, lambda=44. Seeing steady throughout at ~1.3 arcsec. Ended the drift at 08:41Z, frame 166. 09:00Z Switched to spectro. Loaded Cart 8 Plate 1569 for one exposure before the plate expires for the night. Stars on gotoField, best focus eyeballed near zero in order to save some time. Taking a gamble to maximize the last 1/2 hour this plate is good for by doing 2 x 900 s science exposures then a postCal; collimation check earlier in the afternoon was done at a temperature within 1 degree of current ambient air temp so we will risk it. Collimation remained in spec and we finished this plate after upping the second science exposure time to 1080 s. SoS complained about bad sky residuals and max sky residuals on r1; after running sos_redo using the postCal we took immediately following the science exposures, all but the max sky residual warnings went away. 10:20Z Telescope stowed and enclosure on. endNight rejoiced; however, near the completion of the endNight procedures, the software asked for the user to press return for the next page of output. We did this but a small window popped up (and disappeared on pressing return) which was unfamiliar -- we don't know what message that window indicated.
