APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Saturday September 18, 2004 (MJD 53267) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Howard Brewington John Barentine ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- Clouds, rain and wind. Never opened. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Cloudy all night, rain during the second half. We were taunted by sucker holes during the first couple of hours of the night, but none persisted long enough for us to have opened and commenced science. Passed the humidity limit around 04:35Z; we turned on the heat inside the enclosure shortly thereafter. Gave up at 10:30Z with an hour to go until twilight, and a hopeless situation on radar and satellite. endNight rejoiced on the cloudy night tapes. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4840 23:03Z 23:27Z 100 O 53.14 59.10 53 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): y QA Procedures Done (y/n): y UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 28604, plate -9999 ------- 22:50 28604 0.0 bias 22:53 28605 0.0 bias 23:16 28606 10.0 flat 23:18 28607 2.0 arc 23:26 28608 2.1 arc 23:29 28609 2.1 arc ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JL cloudy 01 Stays: JL cloudy 02 ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 22:56Z 2 0 1.00000 0 1257 0 121 30.1 16.5 8 180 ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 22:41Z 61 44 13 209 (SSW) 821 - Cloudy 23:45Z 60 46 12 179 (S) 801 - Cloudy 00:17Z 60 45 10 188 (S) 873 - Cloudy 00:49Z 59 46 7 181 (S) 867 - Cloudy 01:21Z 58 45 14 147 (SSE) 1038 - Cloudy 01:54Z 57 45 15 138 (SE) 1008 - Cloudy 02:26Z 57 44 17 132 (SE) 897 - Cloudy 02:58Z 57 45 18 123 (ESE) 888 - Cloudy 03:28Z 55 47 19 118 (ESE) 945 - Cloudy 03:58Z 55 47 15 112 (ESE) 937 - Cloudy 04:29Z 54 49 11 107 (ESE) 1161 - Cloudy 05:01Z 54 49 22 132 (SE) 1305 - Cloudy 05:33Z 55 49 22 126 (SE) 1080 - Cloudy 06:06Z 55 49 20 145 (SE) 1136 - Cloudy 06:38Z 55 49 22 127 (SE) 1048 - Cloudy 07:12Z 54 50 25 126 (SE) 1097 - Cloudy 07:44Z 54 50 22 144 (SE) 1315 - Cloudy 08:15Z 52 52 27 182 (S) 2990 - Cloudy 08:48Z 51 52 31 198 (SSW) 377833 - Cloudy 09:20Z 50 51 22 187 (S) 10681 - Cloudy 09:52Z 50 51 22 198 (SSW) 99121 - Cloudy 10:25Z 51 51 20 202 (SSW) 250356 - Cloudy 10:57Z 50 51 26 188 (S) 151788 - Cloudy ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- Telescope stowed at 30 degrees with Cart 2, Plate 1559 mounted. The worst of the water was: West door (upstairs) Western wall around racks (downstairs) He deployed some absorbent pads on the floors in the worst areas. It was not enough water to damage equipment, but could present a safety risk to personnel.
