APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Sunday April 10, 2005 (MJD 53471) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Howard Brewington John Barentine Mike Harvanek (swing) ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- Had clouds, snow and/or high humidity for most of the night but were able to declare two plates done: 2002 and 1839. We had a problem with the DIMM enclosure. It took several minutes to close and seemed like the air pressure was low. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- Due to colder temperatures forecast for tonight, spectro collimation was adjusted. Details are in the Problems section. Snow and high humidity prevented early ventilation. No problems to report. Night: ------ 02:53Z Clouds, snow, and high humidity at the end of twilight, so we waited. 06:22Z Humidity decreased. We cracked the doors, opened the louvers, and turned on the fans. However, we still had clouds. 07:36Z Clouds started to clear, but humidity started to increase again. 08:25Z Enclosure off. We tried to setup the DIMM; however, the finder was not aligned. And, we did want the bright LCD screen uncovered while doing science. We will work on the finder tomorrow during twilight. 08:35Z Cart 05, plate 2002 (chunk100). Guide stars on goToField. Plate finished in three exposures. 10:12Z Cart 07, plate 1839 (chunk95). Guide stars on goToField. Plate finished in three exposures. Misc Watcher messages in the Problems Section. endNight finished and was happy. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5244 00:08Z 00:22Z 100 O -89.55 -86.00 38 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): y QA Procedures Done (y/n): y UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 31900, plate -9999 ------- 00:01 31900 0.0 bias ----- sequence 31901, plate 2105 ------- 00:18 31901 10.0 flat collimation 00:20 31902 2.0 arc collimation 00:24 31903 2.1 arc collimation 00:26 31904 2.1 arc collimation 00:50 31905 10.0 flat collimation check 00:52 31906 2.0 arc collimation check 00:55 31907 2.1 arc collimation check 00:58 31908 2.1 arc collimation check ----- sequence 31909, plate -9999 ------- 01:04 31909 0.0 bias 02:09 31910 0.0 bias ----- sequence 31911, plate 2105 ------- 05:54 31911 10.0 flat 05:58 31912 2.0 arc ----- sequence 31913, plate 2002 ------- 08:54 31913 10.0 flat 08:56 31914 2.0 arc 09:21 31915 1200.1 target 09:44 31916 1200.2 target 10:02 31917 900.2 target ----- sequence 31918, plate 1839 ------- 10:16 31918 10.0 flat 10:19 31919 2.0 arc 10:38 31920 900.1 target 10:56 31921 900.2 target 11:20 31922 1200.2 target ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 08:52Z 5 2002 -87.79 0.0017 66.79 -0.0003 106.01 -0.0100 1.000070 10:23Z 7 1839 257.11 -0.0001 59.41 0.0002 97.79 -0.0104 1.000000 ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JL8454 Stays: JL8455 ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 08:51Z 5 2002 1.00007 -691 775 210 -88 66.9 -2.8 15 324 gdr 2.5 10:22Z 7 1839 1.00000 0 1373 220 257 59.5 -2.9 12 330 gdr 1.5 ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 23:46Z 27 22 3 353 (NNW) 1562 - 00:16Z 25 25 7 321 (NW) 1554 - 00:46Z 28 21 9 268 (W) 636 - 01:17Z 27 21 12 285 (WNW) 711 - 01:49Z 26 23 9 261 (W) 781 - snow 02:22Z 25 24 17 289 (WNW) 698 - 03:03Z 26 23 4 292 (WNW) 552 - 03:35Z 27 21 15 339 (NNW) 619 - 04:08Z 26 23 15 347 (NNW) 675 - 04:40Z 26 22 18 319 (NW) 639 - 05:12Z 27 22 22 323 (NW) 609 - 05:45Z 26 21 17 315 (NW) 637 - 06:16Z 27 21 18 299 (WNW) 696 - 06:48Z 27 21 18 308 (NW) 697 - 07:20Z 27 21 14 316 (NW) 735 - 07:53Z 26 21 12 305 (NW) 782 - 08:25Z 26 21 14 302 (WNW) 806 - 08:59Z 26 21 9 353 (NNW) 906 - 09:30Z 26 21 0 273 (W) 874 - 10:02Z 27 20 6 354 (NNW) 964 - 10:33Z 26 20 5 338 (NNW) 990 - 11:05Z 26 18 10 3 (N) 960 - 11:35Z 26 18 2 34 (NE) 976 - ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 06:22Z Cracked the doors, opened the louvers, and turned on the fans. 08:25Z Enclosure off 11:38Z Enclosure on, doors and louvers closed, fans off.
