APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Thursday September 29, 2005 (MJD 53643) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Day: John Barentine Night: Dan Long Howard Brewington ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- superNova Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- 82,S lambda 115 to 122 Rain, rain, and more rain 82,S lambda -139 to -125 Watcher message: imager primary LN2 fill time fault; see log. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ------------------------------ The afternoon checkout went well. The spectro focus was not checked since superNova science was planned. The south louver, in the lower enclosure of the 2.5-meter enclosure, is unhappy. French knows about this problem. Night: ------------------------------ In the imagingSummary, we noticed that run 5663 was posted twice, i.e., once as ignore and again as a bias. We mounted the imager at sunset and did an on-telescope bias inside the enclosure with lights off. 01:46Z We moved the scope to 82S to get focused and run skippy; however, clouds were approaching from the west. See imagingDetails for more information. 03:00Z We closed because of clouds and rain. 10:18Z Enclosure off and back to 82S; see imagingDetails for more information. Three times during the second half of the night, watcher reported that there was a primary LN2 fill time fault with the imager. We mentioned this problem to French. It looked like the temps of dewars 3 and 4 were slightly higher as compared to the other dewars. primary ln2 fill time (FAULT!!!: 2005-09-30 12:08:13Z) ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5663 23:57Z 00:02Z 100 O 77.36 78.55 22 ignore 5663 23:57Z 00:15Z 100 O 77.36 81.81 22 bias 5664 00:56Z 01:13Z 100 O 92.10 96.35 42 bias 5665 01:44Z 02:48Z 82 S 105.99 122.10 121 science 5666 10:18Z 11:51Z 82 S -144.64 -121.42 166 science ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- Run 5664: Bias, T-bars unlatched, on telescope, in darkened enclosure ++++++++++++++++++++++++ Run 5665: Science, 82S, -startLambda 115 -endLambda 121.9 with two-degree ramps on each end.
