We got data on 8 2338, and 6 2282 at the beginning and end of the night respectively. In between we imaged 82 N between 117.5 and -123 under variable high cloud with significant moon until 06:30Z. Windbaffle altitude reluctant to return to stow from 6 deg when closing. No idea why. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ----------- The afternoon checkout was uneventful; except, the imager bias looked atypical, i.e., g1 was displayed as a purple color on the monitor in the control room. We tried rebooting photo-one but had the same problem after wards. Next, we did a bias with the T-bars unlatched while the imager was still in the doghouse. The following bias looked normal. And finally, we relatched the T-bars and did yet another bias, and the purple color of g1 returned. We took a look at some of the images from g1, and the problem seemed to be electronic noise. Spectro focus checked. No adjustment needed. The SDSS camera bellows pressure was at 41-psi today. Cleaned up the OK_to_Remove_MJDs in /data/spectro Night: ----------- 00:10Z Opening 00:35Z Cartridge 8 2338 seguecluster130 Seeing decent at 1.1 to 1.3 Moon at about 50% illumination combined with clouds are going to make it a little difficult to get signal. Clouds keeping efficiency between 10 and 30 percent. Trying a 4 minute exposure (34752) Brightest fibers about 6000 to 7000 counts. Many fibers look like sky, so not much signal in 4 minutes under these conditions. Doubling exposure time to 8 minutes (34753). 11,000 counts in brightest r1 fiber, around 8000 in quick extraction with apoplot. One 4 minute and three 8 minute exposures taken in variable cloud. We await the official word on whether this combined with data on 53682 and 53679 is sufficient to declare the plate done. 02:25Z instChange to imager 02:45Z scanStripe 82, N id3 unresponsive, goDrift bails. dsclat sdssid3 followed by i returned nothing. Some odd behavior on closing. When coming back up from 6 degrees, the altitude stopped shortly after starting. Reinitializing was successful, but only for the telescope itself. The windbaffle would not initialize. I went down and checked the windbaffle amplifiers while doing yet another axis init. This time everything came up fine and tracked to 30 without a problem.
